I'm brand new to this Maverick craziness, up until a week ago I have never heard of it except the 70's model. Contacted the dealer and they said build it out online and made an appointment for today (Friday). Get there and find out after 20 minutes that they are not taking orders on the Hybrid model ( which is to say not taking orders on the "standard" model). Of course he had the order that we built online so he should have known but apparently for some reason thought we were going to "upgrade" to the 2.0 EB, which I do not consider an upgrade, and we had the hybrid marked.

He would not take an order. He said we may be able to order a 2023 sometime in late 2022, maybe Sept/Oct and of course delivery unknown. These do not exist on lots within a couple hundred miles here even though I do see some on the computer. If I wait for what I want its like probably a year? longer?

I've never bought a new vehicle so a bit disappointed. Also are the destination charges/acquisition fees of $2140 typical on a new car buy?

Happy New Year.

Everything you wrote is correct. …. and it may actually get worse in the short term. There is going to be news that the Mach E is stopping production due to a whole new round of COVID lockdowns in China (and Ford even stating some of its execs are stuck in China).

I have two Mavericks on order and registered for a Lightning. (Really want the electric truck)

Ford’s production woes are so bad and their dealer network so unpredictable that the opening of Tesla’s Texas factory next week might end up being the path to the efficient truck I want. If so, adios Ford! (after buying two Rangers, three F150’s and being a stockholder for 20 years)

I don’t want to hear any whining that Tesla or BYD put Ford out of business. They did this to themselves by outsourcing everything to China and Mexico.

First of all, sorry you missed the boat on 2022 hybrids but yes they stopped taking orders for those, that’s a whole topic by itself why they did that.

Yes you will have to wait about a year (maybe Oct 2022 at the earliest if you’re lucky) for you to take delivery of a hybrid maverick, unless you buy used. There’s really no statistical chance you’ll catch one at a dealer lot that a customer refused to buy before then. There’s just not enough chance to even hope for.

The destination fee is not optional, Ford requires it for all vehicles, to have a standard delivery cost added in no matter if you live next door in Texas or way out in Alaska, and it is stupid for them to itemize it as an additional thing instead of just adding it to the MSRP. But just consider it as part of MSRP.

Now literally anything else is %100 up to the dealer, aside from state taxes title and registration which will be the same rate in your state no matter what vehicle you’re getting.

Acquisition fee may refer to the leasing option Ford offers? That’s not relevant for a financing/cash purchase.

Any fees like dealer administrative fees, protection plan (b.s.), a dumb pin stripe decal (scam), market adjustment 🤮, etc is up to each dealer, and some states regulate certain dealer fees a litte bit but I’m not sure which ones.

Welcome to the world of the new Ford Mavarick! It is the hottest selling vehicle of 2021 and will continue to be well into 2022!

To get you up to speed, the new Maverick began reservations at Ford.com back in June 2021. People went into the dealer and started placing their orders soon afterwards. The ecoboost was the first to go into full production, and deliveries began around October or so. The hybrid was delayed a bit because EPA dragged their feet certifying mileage, which didn't happen until the 3rd week in October. Ford announced that they would stop taking orders for the hybrid on 15 November because they met their quota for hybrid orders, however, the ecoboost engine would still be available.

The hybrid was delayed even further due to having to pass emissions testing, which didn't happen until the first week in December, and then the OKTB was given. Customers began receiving their hybrids a short time later. Some, but not all, customers that ordered back in June and July are still waiting for their Mavericks to go into production.

Along the way for the whole Maverick line, there were delays in production due to parts shortages, being closed for Thanksgiving, and during the Christmas and New Years break, further delaying impatient customers who may have purchased another vehicle, decided not to buy, or didn't qualify for financing. When that happens, the whole order isn't canceled, but frees up the vehicle for the dealer to sell. Some of the dealers, but not all, do a "market adjustment" of whatever they decide. Some dealers are selling them at MSRP, and some will mark them up to $10K over MSRP.

So, if you're still interested in a hybrid Maverick, check with your local dealers frequently and ask if you can be put on a list to be contacted if one comes in that a customer changed their mind on. If that doesn't work, the new window to reserve and order a hybrid is either August 15 or 16, 2022.

The Maverick is a great truck and worth waiting for, in my opinion.

Having said that, it will be a true test of your patience. I ordered mine July 6th and it's scheduled to be built the 2nd week of Feb which means I'll receive it probably in early April. (That's 9 months if you're counting.)

It's been REALLY hard to wait this long, but at this point I'm in it to win it. Good luck!

The automotive world is in a tail spin right now. Standard major brand manufacturers are struggling mostly due to Covid shutting down access to conventional parts, especially computer chips. Sort of shocking but Ford, GM, Audi, VW, Porsche and a long list of old standard factories are investing heavily in new start-up EV vehicle manufacturers...and or their EV supply chain manufacturers. VW, primary stockholder of Porsche, just dumped millions in EV investments with a potential Porsche competitor. Most are doing so to get a head start on EV technology that they are behind on.

It's assumed that the EV technology is something almost Greek to the old school manufacturers and their best bet to catch up with the dozens and dozens of EV startups is their way to catch up...without reinventing the wheel. Tesla is now worth more than Ford. Ford well knows this and know that the EV Truck is the target on their back.

Stay tuned! The new EV startups will be the new competition for Ford, GM, Porsche, VW, and a long list of the old stable brands.

If it is any consolation, perhaps the 2023 Maverick will get some of the features the 2022 lacks. It's been well discussed here how the Maverick seems to have been compromised a bit due to the computer chip shortage, and some obvious features you'd expect to be on the truck are not on it at all or limited to top trims.

I am from Nebraska and strongly recommend you call Long McArthur Ford in Salina Kansas (@fordvideoguy) They can’t take orders for Hybrids until August but maybe they will put your name on a list to order. They have been taking care of people really well. Take the stress out of it and deal with them. Nebraska is full of bad dealers.

The destination charges is $1,495 and acquisition fees of $695. As stated above you can’t do anything about the $1,495. The acquisition fee is a lease fee. If you buy it you won’t pay that fee.

Well, I myself have yet to order. Wanting a Hybrid I will either be ordering a MY23 this summer, also in line for a Lightning but looking at 2nd year or 3rd year for that as I have a very late reservation.

My rough plan is to attempt to get an orphaned custom order hybrid in a few months when I am ready to replace our Explorer. My MachE was a similar orphan, took about 4 weeks to find a dealer that accepted xplan and I had it delivered for about $400. If I was not set on Hybrid I would jump all over the Granger offer on this forum. $3000 off basically covers EB and options. Only issue is picking it up.

Destination is only $1499, the Aquisition is for a lease I think.

Good luck.

Automotive manufacturing is a mess right now. Material supply issues and labor issues. Plants are just trying to maintain volume.

If you want something specific plan 6 moths to a year plus out!

Like that Reagan joke, man in Russia goes to dealer and orders car. Sales men says ordered, come back in 10 years and pick it up. Guy asks sales man pick it up morning or afternoon. Salesman goes what difference does it make? Man says I have the plumber coming in the morning that day to fix my sink.

Edit: Reagen tells it better go look it up. Lol

Well I put together an order for Granger Ford (Iowa) today and we will see what happens. Obviously going with the 2.0 EB for now and will order a Hybrid model as soon as that becomes an option. We'll see where it goes from here...

Nothing like creating optionality! I think the vehicle market will be crazy next few years so you should be good on resale.

Ordered/confirmed a day after you, still not schedule data lol. I'm betting many, many hybrids MY22 get shifted to MY23 given the standing constraintment on the hybrid engine (40%) every scheduling week. Throw in all the other constraints (>20% on just about everything) and I'm betting a year + for me to take delivery.
