Canada(maybe not every province) has a law prohibiting the sale of vehicles from dealers over their advertised price(MSRP).
If dealers here aren't going to sell for MRSP then Ford shouldn't be able to advertise that price.
Ford advertises MSRP. Dealers aren't Ford, and Ford has no direct control over what they do. In a free market long term this tends to work itself out into a balance. Already things are settling somewhat.

I prefer this method to government over reach which almost always has unintended consequences and frequently doesn't even work for its goal in the first place.

So the used car department props up their revenue just a bit more through higher pricing.
Then the service department charges a bit more so the dealership can stay afloat.
Parts are more expensive as well.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Let the dealers fight it out. Competition almost always provides consumers with the best outcome.

I think reducing warranty coverage would incur the wrath of the state Attorneys General. I know the Maryland AG would go after the manufacturers.

I bought a 2021 RV (Leisure Travel Van) from the first owner after 10 months. LTV offers a 2 year warranty on the coach (the Ford chassis Warranty is good for 36mo/36k) to the FIRST OWNER only. The second owner gets only up to the balance of half the original warranty, 1 year, starting from whenever the first owner took possession.

In my case, the original owners weren't trying to flip it, their plans just changed. But the point is, this company has been doing this unchallenged. I bought knowing I only had 2 months left. This is their verbiage:

That is completely legit. You can make the warranty non-transferable. But it has to be established the warranty is not able to be transferred no matter what.

The Magnuson - Moss Warranty Act in 1975 established the rules governing the ways manufacturers limit warranties. This states that a manufacturer cannot void the warranty for things that did not impact the warranty. This has been a common area of contention as manufacturers try to limit what owners do to their vehicles. It's what prevents the manufacturer requiring you to get it serviced at a dealer shop for instance. Also they cannot void a warranty for your AC because you put a lift on it as another example.

Manufacturers will not be able to change the warranty terms based upon the non-impactful condition of selling it for more than you paid. They can threaten it, they can try it but when it goes to court (and if they try it on a large scale it surely will) it will almost certainly be a loser for the manufacturers. Law supersedes contract so nothing they put in the T&C will override this either.

Warranty Coverage is already reduced/limited in all kinds of ways.

It's literally called a "New Vehicle LIMITED Warranty".

I think reducing warranty coverage would incur the wrath of the state Attorneys General. I know the Maryland AG would go after the manufacturers.
