You know you would think that they would have that up here in the colder climates. I believe there are more snow birds heading south than the southern dwellers heading north.

I lived in Alaska for almost 40 years where there are wide open spaces and little traffic. In my early 20’s I hitched a 24 ft. Airstream to my half ton Chevy and towed it over 800 miles round trip without any towing experience. Looking back now in my early 60’s that was probably one of the most foolish things I have ever done.

Now that I own my Mav with 4k tow pkg. and I am considering purchasing a small travel trailer, a class like this would probably be beneficial. Also everyone living in Ohio will likely encourage me to do just that.

Lol It's tough backing in a trailer you can't see. You got to do the zig zag peaking in the mirrors. I have hitches on the front of all my trucks( except maverick. Yet). I learned quick working at the boat shop as a kid.

"Save" 250 bucks? How much are they charging for something every red blooded guy should learn by himself for free?

For anyone in Ohio, I’ll teach you towing basics while we split a case of beer.

Day 2 of in the truck training at TriState CDL school down in Middletown I was already taking over training the guys who were lagging behind the class. They were shorthanded on instructors since the class was overloaded from the GM shutdown in Moraine. Funny thing was I financed out my CDL training and paid on it for 4 years. Every other guy in my class had a full ride from the GM layoff deal. AND I had to teach them suckers how to alley dock!

When I was 15 my dad made sure to teach me to be just as competent driving in reverse as I was in forward. Maybe thats why I chirped the tires reversing through the cones with the young blonde Hwy Patrol examiner when I was 16.

Yeah, but not everyone has had the opportunities we had. My folks were poor and the family chased work at times... Result was we grew up under a variety of conditions and as a boy, I experienced a variety of things. I too had the priviledge of learning to hook-up, back-up, and haul grain trailers (sometimes tandem) with an IH FarmAll at 14 years old when we enjoyed The Good Life (some will get that reference). My two younger brothers, both in their 40s, have never owned a pickup truck, nor towed anything. Go figure?

With folks spending $1800+ on carbon fibre bicycles, the value of money and things is all over the place nowadays. Hard to say what's value anymore. Perhaps $495 is cheap to give folks a basic skill, confidence to execute and prevent major disasters.
