This, after being t-boned in my convertible by someone on their mobile running a red light, is why I have a truck now and not a sprots car. (Just a little truck, but it is safe enough without being a nuisance to my gas purchase budget.) Just too much of this. They are as dumb as rocks too, because the slightest mistake on anyone's part there, even just a slippery spot in the road, and suddenly they would have been getting to their destination hours later or never on top of paying higher insurance premiums and tickets and all of the months-long hassle of getting their car repaired. It doesn't save time to be impatient on the road. I'm dumbfounded why people want to buy a fancy car with nice AC and heater and leather seats and a fancy stereo and then be in such a hurry to get out of the car that they risk their lives at every moment. Personally I like to relax on my drives, enjoy the comfort, I'll get there safe, relaxed and based on how every person who speeds past me is sitting next to me at the next light, just as fast as if I had rushed.

Quick question: When you say full size spare, do you mean it is exactly the same size as the other four? If so, do you have a TPMS in your spare and do you do a five-wheel rotation vs a four wheel rotation?
Ford markets it as “full size” but I don’t think it is. I believe it is halfway between a donut and a regular tire. Other MTC members would know better. I’m here mostly to make fart and dick jokes!

The placard on the drivers side door jam confirms it is not a full size spare, take a look !

I haven't even had my Maverick 2 weeks yet, and the crazies are trying to screw it up. I have the only perfect Maverick ever made (blue, BAP, Lariat hybrid) so I don't want to have to replace it. This was on a two-lane road this evening and I was going at least the speed limit. Nobody is going to make up a story if I have the video.

I know there are many to choose from, but what dash cam setup are you using? Manufacturer? Where purchased? Etc... Seeing you're recommending one, what would you suggest? Thanks!

I got this one:

Rexing V1P Flex X4 4K WiFi Dual Dash Cam Black BBY-V1PFLEX-X4 - Best Buy

It's on sale right now. I've purchased 3 of them so far. A previous one I had wasn't as nice. There are certainly ones with more features, but this one can be accessed via a phone app, or of course pull the SIM card and put in your computer which I find easier if I want to do anyting with the video. It has front and rear cameras and comes with the hardwire kit so it can detect bumps while parked and turn on. I believe this is specially packaged for Best Buy. One thing I especially like about it is there is no suction cup on the windshield, so the camera is pretty flat to the glass.

The only thing better than a dashcam is TWO dashcams, lots of 2-channel options out there these days. You could have caught him coming and going in HD :)

Yep, it also has a rear camera but the video wasn't exciting. It has an option to use a cabin camera as well but it doesn't come with one.

Good day @Russ B.

I do believe the lower trim models come with a donut spare.

I do know my 2025 Lariat came with a so called full size spare, which I have replaced with a matching full size winter spare (same as my other 4 winter tires on steelies).

The under-size spare came on the 17" steel rim, so I can now do a 5 winter tire rotation.

A full size spare does fit under the truck, even with the tire flattener. Just fit the jagged tire flattener teeth in between the treads of the spare.

In winter, I carry my spare strapped down in my truck box and it is also covered with a hard tonneau cover...should I need the spare, I can get at it easily and not have to crawl around in the ice, snow and slush of our winters.

If you do change your spare like I did, try to make sure the outer circumference of the spare tire matches the outer circumference of the tires on your truck.

I hope this helps answer your question.

Have a good one,

Andy

That was helpful and puts you in the category for my next question: I have a matching rim and tire for a spare (100% match). I am doing a 5-tire rotation but I did not fit the spare with a TPMS and having it in the mix plays hell with the TPMS system. Constant false positives on tire pressure. My son says he has the same setup on his Tundra and the TPMS goes nuts over the mix. 5-tires, 5 sensors. Thoughts?

When I had my tires and rims put together at my Ford dealer, I had them install a tpms sensor on the spare as I did not want any issues...so, 5 winter rims in total, 5 sensors and 5 winter tires and done. They set them up as well.

They also store my spare set when I am not using them, and I get them swapped over when I go for my 2 seasonal oil changes in April and November.

I should be good to go, and I haven't had any issues...just the way I like it.

Have a good one,

Andy

My 26 Mav Hybrid Lariat has the "conventional spare"--per window sticker. It is a 215/60/R17 vs 225/55/R19 on the truck.

So, according to "convention", an automobile should be outfitted with a spare tire that is different than all the other tires the vehicle runs on every day. Simple math tells us that you will also buy tires 20-25% more often than if you had 5 identical wheels and tires and used a 5-tire rotation pattern. Personally, I'd have a higher opinion of my supplier if he did more to stay out of my pocket. I can't wait for the service advisory to come down that says I need a new "conventional" spare because the "like new" tire is beyond the DOT 7-year limit of service, in spite of having zero miles on it.

Medical issue? I would say texting but the left turn after seemed odd.
