I had the same thing happen to me. I shut the truck off and restarted the truck. I haven’t had any problems since. My thought was to reboot the system by shutting it off and back on much like a computer.

I had a similar experience when one of the doors was not closed all the way.Yesterday I was trying to put my '24 Hybrid in gear and it would not engage into either Drive or Reverse. A message popped up on the dash that I didn't take a picture of so I can't say exactly what it said. I put it in neutral to see if I could get it to roll in my driveway but it seemed locked in Park.
Has anyone experienced this? I've searched this formum but can't find any references to it. Two hours later and today it seems fine and will shift into gears. I called dealer to explain situation & they told me to drive it until it happens again. I don't want it to sit at dealer for two weeks if they can't replicate it.
My other question is: if it " locks" in "Park" again, how do I get it towed to dealer if the wheels are locked?
Thanks for any constructive comments.
When I've had the unable to move selector due to a number of the reasons already posted, no dash message, just won't do it.During the "event", I also had a vehicle service warning alert for the problem along with the other malfunction message that I should have taken a pic of so I could better explain this dilemma. I'm at 10K, so Ford in the interim has sent me a notice for 10K checkup but I don't see what's involved in that since the owners manual is so poorly written
That 2-2.5" rise happens when the EBrake is set on. Then it will auto release when enough go pedal is pushed. It seems to be functioning normally this morning, I tried everyone's suggestions to try to replicate it, but it seems to be back to normal. I may have not been clear in my initial post~~~ the Selector would rotate to D , N and R but the transmission seemed to be locked in Park.
On Monday when this malfunction occurred and I finally got it to go into Drive mode after waiting and retrying 2hours later, the front end of the truck seemed to "rise up" about 2 inches as if I was driving over a 2x4 piece of lumber laying in the driveway. Now is doesn't do that at all. Weird situation, but time will tell.
Has anyone else experienced this malfunctioning in gear selector shifter and transmission?
I haven't changed any settings, and mine will also.I turned off my door ajar warning in forscan and my mav will run with door open backing up.
Good idea.If you attempt to go forward or backward (Drive or Reverse) with the parking brake on, your Maverick will automatically release the parking brake for you, but there is a slight but noticeable hesitation. It does seem that the front end rises up a little.
Well - that's a given! Thanks to everyone for your great helpful comments, just drove 10 miles, and in battery saver mode again~~~ frustrating
With the rear rising like you say, it is like the Maverick horse is not happy and bucking.MY 23 Ecoboost does the same thing, a couple of times a year.
The fact that the rear "rises" when you try to move, shows the brakes are engaged and the transmission is in fact trying to move the vehicle. So problem is with a brake not releasing, not the transmission engaging.
Probably a software bug. When mine does that, I just engine off and restart, and problem goes away for a long time. Doesn't happen often enough for me to take it back to the dealer.... Just like my occasional clock and radio tone settings resetting....
Yes, the pop up message says, “press brake pedal to change gear.”Yesterday I was trying to put my '24 Hybrid in gear and it would not engage into either Drive or Reverse. A message popped up on the dash that I didn't take a picture of so I can't say exactly what it said. I put it in neutral to see if I could get it to roll in my driveway but it seemed locked in Park.
