As someone who who owns both a Maverick and a RAV4 Prime I can say I have no complaints about either of them. I keep saying if Toyota would put the Prime drivetrain into a truck of similar size I would be all over it. Yes, it would cost more, but the power and mileage blow the Maverick hybrid out of the water. Our RAV4 has averaged 62 mpg over 12K miles. The 300+HP is more than adequate. A comparable truck with these numbers......hell yes I'd be onboard!!!!

Whoever builds a hybrid with All wheel drive that can tow 3,000-3,500 lbs would own the market.

I reckon I'll be on that waiting list too when Toyota releases their Maverick fighter, so long as it can fit in my garage.

Man a plug in hybrid truck would be perfect for me. Plug it in at night, drive to work, plug it in at work, drive home and repeat.

This would be the dream compact truck.

1. Plug-in 🔌 hybrid with a range of at least 50 miles.
2. Availability of AWD.
3. Towing capacity of 3K.
4. It looks like a truck.
5. Priced at around $25K.
6. Reliable.

Maybe I'm asking for too much of Toyota.

Toyota has all the building blocks with TGNA platform. I drove my Maverick hybrid on Friday and pick it up next week. I have driven Rav 4 hybrids.

Ford nailed the Maverick hybrid. When I sat in it and drove first thought was wow toyota has been left in the dust. For nailed price point and styling.

For the reviews that go on about the Maverick being cheap inside its actually really nice. The Maverick is the bench mark toyota will have to compete with.

Also professional car reviews usually get it wrong. They drive a 70,000 dollar mercadies then compare these vehicles to lower priced vehicles. They are vastly disconnected from the consumer.

1 more note: fit and finish was much better on my Maverick then the one I sat in October. You can tell that ford has done some tuning and assembly associations have gotten into the groove of building. I was impressed and I see cars built every day.
Hope you are right that Ford applies these tuning/assembly lessons to MY23 as that is my plan if current quality issues get resolved...
Toyota has a solid platform with the hybrid Rav4/Venza and its even AWD.
Only question would be payload and towing; it would have to match or beat the Mav.

While those vehicles aren't on dealer lots, Toyota is making sure the dealer allocations are going to customers without ADM.
I know because my daughter is getting a Venza for sticker + tax + doc fees. Straight up deal.
Not happening in my area. Fred Haas Toyota World is selling their Customer Orders (not current inventory) for $10K over sticker...

please just make a truck that looks like this and gets 50 mpg 🙏
If you would have told me before the maverick was available 50mpg old school tacoma I would have jumped in excitement.

The way ford configured the smaller bed to be versatile allowed them to make it 4 doors. I can take my kids in the maverick, still have a small truck with a bed, plus amazing fuel economy.

The maverick is not a compromise to own unless you need towing. (Most people dont.)

Ford created a new vehicle segment. It was a gutsy out of the box move. I do believe they were shocked by demand. Now all the other manufacturers have a bench mark of what consumers want / need.
