I filled up yesterday with top tier 87 octane to see if it was partially bad gas too.
I only put about 200 miles on in the first week and it's been below freezing the entire time. As odd as it sounds, I'm glad other 25 hybrid owners are having the same experience.
I'm excited for break in to be over and slightly warmer temps to get the advertised fuel economy
Same here. I do think it will get better. Although I have a sneaking suspicion that the rated mpg that our 2025 are rated is probably more accurate to the truth and the 22-24 were underrated and usually get better. I’m ok with that as long as I have AWD and can tow my camper šŸ¤·šŸ»

I was getting a bit worried since I've only had my hybrid for a week, but haven't seen better than 28mpg yet. It's been below freezing the whole time,so I'm assuming that's the main reason
Maybe it isn't broken in yet, mine, at 147 miles, getting less mpg than my ecoboost did on the 22'. If it doesn't get better, I will be disappointed big time. I have no miles on the battery, and drove about 15 miles.

I did get the battery to register .7 after I hit the brake to slow down to turn on my street. If the key is to hit the brake to charge the battery, I won't get very far.

Well over a quarter tank of gas to go 135 miles. That must be about a bit more than 3 gallons. Seems like a lot with a battery operated vehicle. Maybe I am just nuts.

What kind of speeds have you been driving at? My commute has about 3 miles of city driving ~ 45mph then about 11 miles on the highway 60-75mph and I've been seeing around 26mpg after each trip to and from work. I'm REALLY hoping the mileage shoots up after it's broken in cuz it's kinda crazy how low it is currently.
I also dislike how electric only mode will only accelerate at a snails pace and limit itself to around 20% power max before kicking on the ICE. I gave it heavy throttle a couple times just to see how the trucks power was at lower speeds, and the battery power reading was up near 50% and ICE was closer to 75-85%. It's obviously capable of decent output in electric mode

I wonder if you have a lead foot and the computer is compensating for it. To get that poor mileage the gas engine has to be on all the time. For me, its rare that I don't get at least the first 1/2 mile on electric only and in town about 40-50% electric.

I've been trying to drive normally - but with more consciousness towards fuel economy overall.
The gas engine is on a lot because it's been very cold,so that's definitely a factor. However I feel like it shouldn't be this difficult to even hit 30mpg on my commute given the engine style, hybrid system, and the cvt helping to optimize efficiency overall.

Ok, sorry but I did not see that you had an XL model. That would mean that you have no seat or steering wheel warmers, so you have to heat the whole cab up to get warm. If you hit the max-heat button, then the electric heating element will add to the heat in the cab, but eats into your battery-only mileage. Also defrost kicks in the A/C, which is pretty expensive on the energy budget. Are your tire pressures up? Mine drop about 4psi at -20 with air instead of nitrogen in them. The only other thing that comes to mind is winter-grade gas costing an extra 3-5%, and ethanol in it, which will drop another 3-5%.

Last night on my commute home I finally got 35mpg lol. I put it in eco, initially had the temp set at 80 but dropped it to 72 once it was warming up, and followed the speed limit a little closer than usual lol. It was also mid 20sF rather than single digits or negative temps outside so that also may have played a large part. Moral of the story is I've now seen it's possible to get decent mileage without doing anything too crazy driving wise.
I think the slight warmup outside helped cuz I usually averaged .5 miles on electric only, but I got 3.5 last night!

I drive just like I did my 22' mav. Slow, steady, no hurry to go anywhere. Retired, leisure drives here and there. I don't have a lead foot, never did after the age of 25. I got around 33 mpg and never go over 62 mph. No need and I don't hold up traffic. I just don't like the fact filling the tank with gas so often. That is money my wife could be spending on me.

Right. The reason to buy a hybrid is for it to be used. If cold weather plays that big of a part, why even bother? You guys in cold states should have a headache if you bought a hybrid.

Same with my hybrid, was getting 48 mpg now that it is cold, I'm getting 31.
Any engine, hybrid or otherwise, is going to see mpg drop in cold weather. That’s been a fact of life since the first internal combustion engine

Don’t worry. You’ll see a big increase in mpg once the temp reaches 60 degrees or more. I see the temp on your display is 26 degrees. Yea, don’t listen to the naysayers or those who make you feel bad by saying ā€œI get 65 mpgā€. It’s BS. Just don’t focus too much on the variances in your mpg from day to day or season to season. It can feel like a rollercoaster if you do. I promise that you’ll see an increase when it warms up. And guaranteed over the long-run you’ll get at least the 38 mpg combined average listed by Ford.

So many variables in fuel mileage in the winter and some of them are the fuel winter grade, the weather, the viscosity of oil used, the condition of the battery, if you are using or not using a engine block heater, the tires whether snow or regular M/S rated and out here in western Washington if it has been raining as tires do have slipping in the rain even when you as a driver never feel it.

Fuel mileage will increase as we all getting back to prime volumetric efficiency of 70 degrees a gasoline engine.
