I thought the same thing.Yikes, that gas mileage
My round trip is 14 miles on the average day. Frontier mileage would be at least as good as my 13 year Colorado I just soldEchoing the same sentiment - that gas mileage is awful. I had a 2001 Frontier, rock solid 2WD truck I sold after 125k miles.
And neither one of us will be touching a Ford until they figure out which vehicle they wanna build In MexicoIt's nice to see Nissan "updated" the truck, but it's just another ho-hum after thought midsize truck.
The whole midsize truck segment is such an after thought. I've extensively researched before purchasing a midsize truck and came to the conclusion that I will never own another one until they are all riding on significantly updated next generation platforms. Nissan just warmed over their existing platform. No thanks. I can't wait to get rid of the midsize truck I have now.
If you need the slightly more towing capability, a little smaller and/ or more ground clearance and can handle the fact they get arguably less (in some instances) or same MPG as a more powerful half-ton, then go for it. I like the midsize segment, but I won't purchase a fullsize half ton either due to their size. I will not touch another midsize truck until they are seriously brought into this century.
All I will say is good luck with the current midsize truck selection, even this so called "next generation" Frontier. And neither one of us will be touching a Ford until they figure out which vehicle they wanna build In Mexico
That was my thought too. To each their own though. My 2019 Tacoma 4x4 is rated at 18/22/20, and I would be lucky to get 18-19 MPG (summer), even on the highway for most combined tanks. That's driving like there is an eggshell under the gas pedal on fairly flat or slight gradient terrain. Horrible. All my friends and family seem to have full size half-ton RAMs (V8) full crew cabs that seem to get same or slightly better on the highway on similar drive cycles.20 mpg and rear wheel drive. No thanks.
