Has anyone had a negative experience with these covers such as water staying in the panels, premature rust or any other

Before I installed mine I filled that area as much as possible with water. Water drained out through holes. Before filling with water that had accumulated.

I still have not bought these, I think they do work from what I've noted on this forum. I know my rockers have collected more crud than I think they should. So far, I just flush them out. I can't justify about as much money for them as the Mabett mud flaps.

For some reason the last sentence in my reply was cut off. "Before filling with water I removed pine cones and gravel that had accumulated." Every time I would reach into those cavities there would be debris of some sort. That is why I bought the covers.

Seems like mud & salt traps to me to cause rust.

I installed the splash shield covers at the front of the rear tire wells as shown and have been happy with them.

Maybe I'm not "truckìng" enough but all the things I've seen on MTC about these voids filling with dirt and debris I haven't had barely anything trapped in there. I even went as far as popping the front fender covers out some to look behind the front tires and on the rockers and again almost nothing there 🤷‍♂️ I will say I did recently install the front wiper cowl water barriers just for added protection. And I wash mine fairly regularly as well. Definitely will be ordering the Mabett under cavity cover soon to prevent salt and dirt getting up on all those exposed wires in the rear.

They are not traps. They are intended to keep salt and mud out. I was reluctant to pay the price and install them myself until I pulled the wheel well back and was surprised to see how much debris fell out. It was a lot. Since installing them I have checked the rockers again and they are clean. I'm scratching my head trying to understand why the engineers designed the wheel wells with those cavities.

Do these plates have adhesive at the top edge to seal against the wheel well liner? Are these Mabett brand that you have pictured?

I'm hesitant to install these, because I flush this area each time I wash my Mav and there's never anything solid accumulated in there. There's not much in my environment that can make it's way in there except for small gravel and mud, and on the rare occasion that I'm in mud, it flushes right out. If I cover up the area, that removes my ability to flush it out, especially any winter saline that has made it's way in there.

Regarding the photo, yes they have adhesive along the edge and yes they are the Mabett brand Rear Wheel Splash Shield Covers.

Thanks for the reply. I'm more likely to install a pair knowing that they seal at the top.
