Wait, are there states that allow open alcohol containers while driving ?

yes, as a result of COVID shutdowns a number of states allow "take out" alcoholic beverages. Here in my small town in CO, you can get a $6.00 house margarita to go - and they come in a Styrofoam cup with plastic lid like a soda. New Mexico has same, and CA off the top of my head. They all renewed the "temporary" regulations put in place for COVID even after lockdowns stopped.

Then they later publish statistics showing impaired driving arrests were up along with driving deaths- and can't figure out why ? Add in the fact all the states that legalized weed in the same time period and you get double the insanity

The green can Fosters is much, much better. I had one in my cup holder today as I monkeyed with a USB cable to get Android auto to work. For the price they are hard to beat. And no silly IPA headache.

Yeah, I'm personally not an advocate of drinking and driving or drinking WHILE driving and think these loosened regulations are dangerous. It didn't require sealed containers, so I would expect a significant number of purchasers to sample the goods before they got home. When I grew up in CA, you were actually supposed to keep your liquor locked in the trunk during transport or could be hassled by LEOs.

For all the talk of the Mav’s cup holding abilities, I have been somewhat disappointed! It loves the 19.2. Fosters not so much.

That's because you Don't Drive and Drive - Period! I know and understand you said it as a joke - but my 11 year old niece and her mother were not laughing when a drunk driver was traveling at 120 mph and split their car and bodies in half and guess what - the Drunk Driver survived and got 6 months because it was his First Offence. Never drive when drinking!
