There were a lot of firsts with the Maverick
  • First hybrid
  • First Ford
  • First pickup
  • First new car
  • First dealer experience
Anyways, with this purchase came Ford reward points. I'm not quite sure what to do with them, I know you can use them for accessories or to pay for servicing charges at the dealer.
Accessories I think you can find cheaper online, maybe with more options even.
Servicing costs, I got my first one done last week at the dealer because a. I got a coupon in the mail that made it reasonable b. I wanted to get the first servicing done at the dealer for warranty and c. I wanted to get bumped to silver tier. Not sure if I'll do that again and will do oil changes myself in the future.

So that brings up the questions
1. What do I do with points?
2. Is it really useful to be in silver tier?

Another thing I realized is that my points did not automatically get updated after I paid for my service charges. I had to report missing points to get them added so I got bumped up to silver tier. Thought that was weird.

It's up to you what you do with them whether you redeem them for maintenance on the vehicle or by Ford's overpriced accessories at no extra cost out of your pocket.

I used mine to buy a battery jumper, something I would never buy normally as I have jumper cables.

Thanks. With all the deep sleep issues, a jumper was one of the first things I bought for the Hybrid, but it was cheaper on Amazon.

My "first" was that I'd never bought an extended warranty before. Since I drive only about 6,000-7,000 miles a year, an 8yr 60K warranty wasn't expensive, and I used up my FordPass points to reduce the cost. This forum recommends Flood and Granger for a good deal on a Ford warranty.

I'm using mine for a couple of their accessories. Yeah, they're overpriced if you're spending your own money on them, but I consider the transaction with points being no cost to me.

I hope to never use their service for anything non-warranty, so I don't really have an alternative. If you're using their service then I'd expect that would be the best route to use their points, and spend your cash on cheaper accessories elsewhere.

Now that's a good way to use my points. I'm in CA so I don't think Flood or Granger would work for me but I'll see if I can use points for extended warranty.

Wait until Ford offers 20% off purchases and use the points then. Makes the price more in line with Amazon or other online sites. I used the points to to buy a bed cubby, tailgate liner kit, and NOCO jump start pack. To me, the reward points were a bonus

From what I have read here they sell Ford warranties that should be good anywhere- they just sell them cheaper than other dealers.

As I’ve been accumulating points with previous vehicles (my dealer dies free oil changes, etc.) we used points for a tonneau & a camera bundle, plus installation.

I bought the Ford rollup tonneau online, mostly with points.

Anybody know of a way to tell when the next Ford accessory sale is coming?

Sweet! I already bought a hard fold tonneau, but that is soilid advice. Did ytou earn points if you buy accessories with points?

Nice! So you are a pro at "pointing" then :D When you got free (how did you get that done) oil changes at the dealer, did you accumulate points automatically or did you have to report missing points to get them added to your account?

10 points per dollar spent. I spent I think $38 last year on my oil change, so I got another 380 points. Quite the drop from the new car points, lol.
