My 22 has had sleep issues since I bought, Ford has agreed to replace with a AGM.
My question is: will I have to use forscan for it to recognize or will their system upgrade it? Tks

It's been assumed that one PID regarding AGM is used, but all the other PIDS about the battery are not - CCA, CA, size, ect. Even the 80% setting is either not used, or misunderstood, and doesn't appear to matter.

For ones that have commented on changing it - and have the means to report actual changes to charging rate - no differences were noted.
The AGM just held charge better, and charged better - for awhile.

Best to make sure they do indeed do a BS reset, and then you indeed lock it and let it sit overnight for BMS relearn.
Just like manual says.

No need for forscan. Just do the full charge, bms reset, and overnight as noted above.
You will be amazed at the difference with an agm- pleasantly!

Hmmm....

The dealer should make the software change for you. No owner is ever expected to use ForScan.

While if you just "drop in" an AGM at home you will "probably" be just fine, I'd like the piece of mind of knowing the software was a match.

That said, a whole bunch of hybrids got shipped with standard FLA batteries and the factory software setting was set to AGM the whole time. Like engineering planned for AGM all along, but then the factory couldn't deliver on it at the time.

I wouldn’t worry about the dealer doing anything except installing the battery under warranty. Let him do what they do

If you do it yourself do as advised above. And then when the service bulletin for correcting the deep sleep, issue finally comes out. Have it upgraded to that software.

As mentioned above, your truck is probably already set for AGM.

My last battery replacement was a 470 CCA flooded. Original was 370 CCA. After 2 1/2 months it is starting to degrade, sometimes showing in the 50% capacity range at 100% charge. I purchased the truck 11 months ago. We'll see if it starts the no lights, radio and dash low battery power shut downs with messages, followed by having to jump it. I now carry a jump pack for the first time in my life. Technology is so great! Not!
