Does anyone else have this issue with the 2026 Ford Maverick where there’s a smooth round metal glob over top the 7mm nut where the ratchet goes to unscrew and remove the metal piece covering the wire connection? It’s preventing that screw from being removed from the metal plate covering the plug. See the pic.

Ford is so infuriating doing to prevent anyone else from doing this it seems.

It’s a new truck so don’t want to void any warranty by bending or destroying anything. May attempt to do after warranty expires. Such BS that Ford is even doing this nonsense.

I have auto stop start and it saves me gas for city driving. Over the past 50 years I have never had a starter go bad except in 3 VWs. each of them went through 3 starters.
I mean, we all have it, some of us just choose not to use it for various reasons

Auto start stop hasn’t been around the past 50 years. The whole concept is ridiculous, accomplishes and benefits nothing.
Except test stats and manufacturer credits.

Hmmmm - if not for those credits, how much more would the truck cost...

You're worried about the warranty ramifications of bending a metal bracket, but not plugging in a third-party device altering the computer systems' behavior?

I never said anything about plugging in a third-party device altering the computer systems' behavior.

You can disable it, The startup state for it is stored in the BMS. Just connect a bad or low 12v battery to the truck. Once the BMS picks up on that it will change default state for it to disabled and it will stay as such until you reset the BMS. That is a safety feature built into the system because if the battery is low and you are at intersection and it cuts off the battery, that is it and you are stuck.

If still need to put in a switch just cut the damn wire, tap it and wire up a new connector for your bypass switch. It is not like you can't get a wiring diagram for the center console switch

I'm so programmed to push the button to shut it off that sometimes I get in the truck and start it and start driving and think Oh I didn't push the button. I look down and apparently I did push it. Same thing with the seat belt there are times I'm halfway down the block and I think Oh I didn't put my seatbelt on and I had already done so. It's so second nature now
