This is the shifter for a ‘24 Blazer. Both are midsized crossover SUV’s from GM, same model year, but they are 2 decades apart in design language.

It doesn’t move like a turn signal. You have to pull it toward you, then move it up or down. I tried to move it like a turn signal the first time I drove it, and it wouldn’t shift. Once the salesman told me how to operate it, it worked like a charm. Feels perfectly natural and takes no effort.Now that I can see hitting by accident with my big hands. Sometimes I hit the windshield wiper control on my Maverick.
Also, electronics are smart. If backing up and trying to grab forward while still moving more than 1-2 mph, it just beeps at you, rather than complying with your potentially harmful request.
With that said, it operates so smoothly, cleanly and intuitively that you can go from forward to reverse or vice versa, in 0.5 seconds, without looking at any gauges or switchgear.
