Flexbed 2x6 dividers - What are these holes for?

And that's not a divider slot.
It's a slot for thin plywood (or drywall) support board.

The photo is sideways (looking down on it)., it's a horizontal "shelf" for a 2x6.

I put those holes to use, in conjunction with M8 x 150mm L-Shaped Right Angle Bolt Screws, to create a hold-down for a 2x6 piece of lumber. The project intent was a DIY bike rack. Works great. The designers at Ford put a "floor" under those holes so the bolts don't drop down into the mechanical abyss.

Be careful in there, noob. If you have a bolt bouncing around in the hole then you will wreck the paint and start a rust spot. Therfore, I wouldn't go bolting something down just for the fun of it, but if you need to yo, need to.

Yes. Which is why I pointed out it was for holding plywood or drywall (from sagging) if you load thin material.

Damn! Those are Fancy! Just regular 2x8s? Or did you have to shave any off? I like the weight reduction holes added as well.

Thanks, I had to cut off approx 3/4" from the 2x8 so that they match the height of the tailgate. Those holes did lighten up the 2x8 significantly, and could also be used to tie down to in addition to the bed tie downs. The one closest to the tailgate also works well to keep tools, etc from sliding forward in the bed.

Like you, I wanted a mid-point sheet support, and needed 6-1/2" tall. I used a couple of 1x6 cedar fence posts, adding the 1" spacer underneath, and doubling-up the thickness on the ends to fit the slots better. Pretty lightweight too.

I drilled the holes slightly larger and put nutserts in for my bike rack. Same idea, different execution. I like your idea!
