Noob here, trying to set up some cross bed dividers and I'm not sure what Ford had in mind with these holes in the bed.

Am I supposed to somehow secure the 2x4 or 2x6 to the bed using these holes?

What am I missing here?

Thanks.

I've got an idea, I'll drill a hole in the wood and insert a 2 1/2" screw or bolt or whatever. It won't be a secure connection, but at least it'll keep the wood from shifting and bouncing around.

Not sure where you are. I have used “2” 2X6s here for dividers.

my MY24 doesn’t appear to have a place that replicates your photo.

Right, the rear dividers won't be a problem, just the one up front near the cab.

I don’t have “this” indent.

I wouldnt go drilling the drain out. That will be where rust starts immediately with exposed sheet steel.

If you want something to block wood from moving, I'd suggest something magnetic that wills tick there, or make a wooden bracket that will sit in the indent.

Actually it's an optical illusion. it's a small bump out. It appears to be there to make room for the gas tank filler tube.

And that's not a divider slot.
It's a slot for thin plywood (or drywall) support board.
