I use Motorcraft filters on all my Fords. I don’t want any flow issues from going to a filter media with super tight orifice sizes.
Nothing to worry about.
Maybe some rare Chinese knock-offs use crazy-bad filter media. (?)
About any filter you get will have decent Filter Media.
SuperTech, MicroGard Select, Fram Ultra or Titanium, Mobil1, Motorcraft, Wix, NapaGold, etc. all good.

They meet SAE USCAR36 basic flow & construction specs, & are tested to ISO 4548-12 in the engineering world.

Note that vehicle oil pumps are Constant Volume pumps, each revolution delivering the same volume of oil. Variations in Filter Media porosity don't matter to Constant Volume pumps like ours.

This means if an oil filter is dirty, the oil pump simply works a little harder each revolution to pump the oil. If the filter is clogged, the oil filter has a bypass valve to allow lubrication with dirty oil.

ISO 4548-12 tests that I've seen published on several different oil filters did show some difference in the flow resistance, but nothing that would slow down any Constant Volume oil pump.

All that said, some filters are better than others for how clean they get your oil.
I prefer oil filters that clean the oil better, and those oil filters use superior filter media to get those results without excessive flow resistance.

Use an over-sized filter if the length isn't a problem, for a few nice benefits.
The Mav Hybrid uses a Motorcraft FL910s, but will easily fit an FL400s, or a Fram Titanium FS3600 or Ultra XG3600. Other brands cross-referenced to those, or look up using 2006 Ford Taurus SE 3.0L V6. It fits our Mav Hybrids. Maybe Ecoboost models too, maybe it's not too lengthy.

That was generic numbers they let loose on the fl910 it's the same material as the other filters and the same technology NO DIFFERENT

99.9% efficient 30 microns
80% efficient at 20 microns

There is some talk on the forums that wix and amsoil testing the factory filter and the numbers are better than Ford rated

I'd stay with any name brand good quality filter but for now under warranty stay with the fl910 and get a couple some dealers are running out

The Ford filter is the safest cold start filter on the market

It's the only filter that has the bypass on the top of the filter so the chance of washing debris into the motor on bypass cold start is minimal compared to all other filters

Outside of the high-end synthetic filters and what not the motorcraft is the safest and best filter available hands down
If it were your 2.0L EcoBoost vehicle, would you pick the FL400S over the FL910S or just go with the smaller filter and stick with less than 5K service intervals?

Motorcraft filters are made by Purolator, just a fyi. They are about as good as Fram. I work in the industry and will only use Wix.

Im not here to argue about who is better but working in labs doing run test on oils and filters has let me see the real world data. I will stick to the Wix xp series.
Puralator Boss Is Better Than wix xp and looks cooler - I'm not going to argue with you, remember you only share words of credentials MINE are public all over social media I SHOW MY WORK

Larger capacity is always better

Just make sure you equate for the extra filter space oil capacity wise

What is the tiering (good, better, best) between these? Based on their parent company I would imagine that they are equal.

Purolator=WIX=MANN+HUMMEL?

Sorry to resurrect your post but when you mentioned that the motorcraft bypasses from the top I was intrigued because I'd never seen that before. So I found a dissection video here that confirms your claim. Pretty cool!

And there's nothing wrong with a Fram filter or a Purolator and there's a lot of Manufacturers that use Purolator as their main producer of their filters and there's also nothing wrong with Wix it just all depends on your application and what you're willing to spend for the quality of the filter that you're putting on and a Motorcraft filter is by far better technology than a Wix filter based on Ford OEM spec and the bypass technology built into it
However- some forums say certain six and Napa gold have the ford bypass design- don’t know and would have to see 1st hand….
