I have a 2025 XLT AWD 2.0L. The front of the dash where the defroster ducts are has a creaking sound like a pop when I hit a bump and also when making a hard turn. I have seen some posts about sticking some rubber pads in the front of the dash against the windshield. I have tried all of the fixes, but I still have the issue. I know Ford has a fix, but I have to take it to the dealership, and I rather not do that yet. Does anyone out there have a good fix for this? Even though it isn’t really that bad, it’s starting to drive me crazy.

I took me 3 months and 1000+ miles of driving before I finally fixed the obnoxious dash rattle on my 25 Lobo. Not in the same place as yours, however.

Step one - find exactly where/what the noise is by carefully using one hand while driving to pinpoint the location. Push down on the vent. Pull up on the vent. Push the dash forward then sideways. Pull it back. Use circular motion. Press on the windshield in various places etc etc. Found my location after a couple drives…left side gap between the dash and center display.

Step 2 - start shimming the location of the gap that is making the noise. I tried cardboard, plastic, with some improvement. But not until a fellow forum member posted that rubber trim strips worked for him was I able to eliminate my creak. Had to jab the trim in deep & hard using an appropriate plastic pry tool.

Hopefully someone will suggest a solution they used to fix the creak/pop/etc that matches yours. But important to find the exact area of your noise because there are quite a few different places that rattle on many of our dashes etc. And don’t swear under your breath at the folks who respond their trucks are totally quiet:) Swear out loud at them!

The problem, if it's in the same place as mine, is it requires pulling the blue plastic to fix the rattle. There's no other good way to access that section because the top blue plastic is one piece, whereas on most of their older vehicles there was also a strip with clips on top that would allow you easy access.

Thanks for the info. I did try putting in the trim strip like someone recommended. But it was tight fitting between the dash and windshield on the drivers side and then it just fell in on the passenger side. So the dashboard is not even across the windshield.

Putting two blocks of foam under the dash should be the solution

A good DIY fix? No. You'll find all sorts of ideas about things you can stuff here and there, but good fixes involve disassembling more than you are going to want to do.

Every new car has this problem and every dealer is provided a variety of rubber bits and bobs that can be put in the right places to ensure the parts of the dashboard or trim or whatever that were rubbing, aren't anymore.

When I brought my 25 in for its first (included) oil change, I had them look at sound that was coming from where the instrument cluster meets the dash. It took the tech 3 hours and involved 4 test drives to pinpoint and fix.

But it's fixed and has stayed fixed through 2 more oil changes.
