Will future buyers / collectors feel the 2022 is the one to have given its the first year of release.. Or will it be the one to avoid with memories of long waits and production shortage?

It will be plagued with problems. 2023 will be desirable.

It will depend on the mileage.

Neither. While the first year production numbers may not be where Ford wanted them the fact of the matter is , up until very recently, Ford would have built every one they could sell. It's not a rare vehicle, it doesn't have some record setting attributes, etc. It's a truck not a Ford GT.

People tend to collect rare vehicles, whereas this is a high-production model. Granted, people started collecting original VW Beetles, but they were pretty worthless until they were well past the lifetime of their original owners and so finding "survivors" with original paint and what not became rare again.

None of them will be "plagued" with problems because it's a hodgepodge of tried/true Ford stuff already.

None of them will be collectible. This is a mass market, budget vehicle.

The "First Edition" was an option package available to anyone who wanted to order it. technically not a limited number collectable.

Only the Cyber Orange one's will be valuable because they are so hated in the "What's your one no go color" thread. :)

Nobodies going to collect a Maverick, in 20 years they'll all be in a rust heap, modern vehicles just don't hold up.
Unless I wreck it or die first, I am fairly certain I will still be driving the old heap in 20 years.

But monetarily, it will be pretty worthless.

It’s an econobox. Yes Ford has made collectible economy cars before (heck- I have had as many as five Falcons), but modern cars….I don’t see them as classics in the future.
