Hello everyone,

Picked up the Maverick on Wednesday. 2.5 hybrid 2026. Ruby red. amazon purchases quickly began rolling in. First project was the trunk lid assist. inexpensive and functional. looked easy ..a good place to start plus I dropped the lid when I was checking out the spray on liner. found out real quick I didnt have a T50 socket. quick trip to lowes. (took the truck) love driving this thing. came back and began installing. 10-15 minutes..all set lid drops nice and easy , no slam. about 20 bucks..lots more stuff coming. alot are simple interior things. photos to come.

The Maverick uses torx + bits. I found out the hard way when adding the strut. A standard torx may loosen the bolt but you run the risk of damaging the head of the bolt. I bought this set on Amazon.

I’ve never owned a pickup before this one so when reading the OP post I just blew past it without question At least we didn’t call it the rear door!

Welcome to the site. You probably performed the quickest & easiest first mod to your new Maverick. I too did this exact thing as my first mod. The kit I purchased came with the special Torx Plus tool so I didn't need anything at all. Post pics when you get a chance. From another RubyRed 2006 Maverick owner

Welcome. I did the same and added a soft roll up Tunney cover. Also easy to install. Also added two 2 by 8 boards that fit in the bed slots. It splits the space up especially the front to put most of your shopping and other items that won't roll loose. Good luck.

Got a cheap set of T sockets at Harbor Freight......i put one on mine including a cover for the hole on bottom of tailgate. Also got covers for rear wheel wells, to cover that hole that will fill up with snow this winter....on my last Maverick I had struts put on the hood so I didn't have to use the hood support rod. Might do that again..

The vehicle is not 100% Torx + with plenty of the trim and body panels still being regular Torx fasteners. Still good to invest in a set of Torx + bits though.

Great Looking Truck; Looks like my 25 and I now know you have good taste!!! Ok so a trunk lid is a tailgate. Now you surprise me with black plastic inserts of some sort where the back doors close. What are these called and where did you get them?? Thanks! Just keep on modding; you are doing good!!!!
