Just finished my first oil change 2022 ecoboost. The oil had a slight greenish /olive tint. Guessing this is some kind of special break in oil Ford uses?

My hybrid also had that color.
At first ai thought I had mistakingly removed the tranny or antifreeze drain plug🤔😢. Ok, well thanks for conforming I am not the only one with colorful oil!

Years ago when I was young and did my own oil changes, one brand of oil was greenish olive in color. I don't remember if it was quaker state or pennzoil. Totally normal and not a special break in oil.

I also changed the oil (first) on my Mav, yesterday.
Come to think of it, it did look a little odd.

Guess we will call it normal, then. When I went to reset the oil life monitor it actually said I had 35% left. My mileage is 3300. So far loving my Maverick experience.

Curious why you changed it if it had 35% life left?
I usually use visual cues to determine when it’s time…it was pretty dark . But, yes, coulda waited longer. Funny, I let my 2020 GT500 oil go all the way to 5% remaining before changing for the first time. It was about similar mileage, but, well, let’s just say I might have a bit more aggressive driving style.. 🤭😇

From other posts here it looks like the break in oil is a little different in color

My 2005 turbo Dodge had green break-in oil from the factory. The manual should mention the timing of the first change since there is normally a specific miles to keep the break-in oil and shouldn't be run too little or to long. This 'factory' oil has additives / lubricants. I don't believe it's used consistently throughout the auto industry so I'm not going to get into how helpful it might be, just wanted to answer the OP that barring any real issues, the green color is fine during a first oil change.

It's that new green, climate-friendly oil the administration is mandating all manufacturers use.

Been using 'Green Oil' in my '69 911E for over 40 years.

The original was Kendall GT-1. They were bought by Conoco and the original refinery was sold to ARG who started their own brand of green oil 'Brad Penn'. The Green oil is most beneficial for flat tappet motors due to its high Zinc content, no longer required for newer roller tappet motors. Zinc has been regulated by the EPA as a pollutant and refiners were required to lower Zinc levels in their oil. Note that other oil companies are advertising higher zinc content in some of their oils aimed at owners of older flat tappet motors. Ford may be using something similar. And just for the record manufacturers no longer use a 'break-in' oil for most regular production vehicles, hence the 10k oil change interval which I personally do not subscribe to...
