Change oil n filter at 12xxx miles mark, since new. But did oil analysis thru Blackstone. Report revealed typical metals and silicone from sealant. The one part they highlighted, and perturb me was low “viscosity”. And no presence of fuel dilution. Blackstone also did analysis on wife’s Escape, and its oil reveals low viscosity as well. Humm…

For this oil change, went with Motorcraft blend and standard Motorcraft filter. Oil change free using up the 42,000 miles “gift”.

My plan is to do 5 k miles, pull sample, see how oil looks. Will decide then if do oil change. And might switch to full synthetic variety. The Ford quick change bunch charge $74 + tax for blend, $134 for full synthetic.
Big issue for me is driving the truck. So far over 4 months since new, averaging maybe 200 miles per month. Be hard to get to 5,000 miles In a year.

That’s all good advice. I’m leaning towards the mobile, full synthetic oil for hybrid, and the Ford filter that makes the most sense to me. They will see the filter and not question it ! Thank you all. There’s a thread here on this form talking about debris in oil at 500 miles. The guy made sense that’s why I’m changing in 1000 for the hybrid.
I would definitely do 1000 miles. Did mine at 3200km/2000mi. Should have done it sooner seeing what came out. Mobil 1, Ford filter.

Cheers.

I just did mine at 3k miles. I used an OEM filter with Mobil 1 oil. Mobil 1 filter is fine but I personally prefer OEM filter for no real reason haha.

Heads up, it feels like the hulk tightened the oil filter from factory. Seems to be a common issue, not sure why but I almost destroyed the filter just to get it off.

Similar issue with the original oil filter. The correctly fitted filter wrench collapsed the filter initially. Had to get a fabric filter strap to finally remove the destroyed filter.
