After I log in to my account, I choose the "Recalls" item in the "Service & Support" menu. First it brings up a screen wanting me to type in my VIN but if I let it sit there for a few seconds it figures out it already knows it and brings up the following:

Thanks for the info. Do you have a Lariat? It says no recalls for me when I log in but I have an XLT.

M y first recall! Yay!

I thought that the passenger airbag couldn't be disabled, anyway?
You can't...
You can only SEE the "indicator" light..
But, which one?? 🤔
Unit is ON or Unit is OFF??

Is there a tool to check if your maverick is affected by the stop sale?

I have a deposit down on one and haven't heard back from the dealership...

@ctag do you have the VIN?
If so visit Ford recalls, enter your VIN, and find out there.
Or reach out to the dealership.

Thank you!

Shows no recalls, so here's hoping. I don't have a vehicle right now so I'm betting on being able to pick this truck up in about a week...

You may not like the answer you get.
Think Pinto or side saddle gas tanks.
The adoption of airbags
.

The government forced airbags to be installed in cars. The Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 mandated that all passenger cars and light trucks sold in the United States after September 1, 1998, must have airbags. This law required airbags for both the driver and the front passenger.

Manufacturers don't like spending any extra money, unless it equals return on that expense, regardless if it saves lives or not. Therefore the government has to step in and tell them what they have to do.

You haven't stated anything that I don't already know. That said, you (nor anyone else) has not answered my question.

Just did some online digging....

Yes, there is a stop sale on certain 2025 Ford Maverick models due to a recall affecting the passenger airbag disable indicator lamp. The lamp may become dislodged from the instrument panel bezel, potentially making it unclear if the passenger airbag is on or off. This could increase the risk of injury in a crash.

Elaboration:
  • Specific Recall:
The recall, identified as Campaign 25C17, specifically addresses the passenger airbag disable indicator (PADI) lamp in 2025 Lariat models.
Seems, Just "LARIAT" models are affected... :(

How in the hell did we survive with out all this government?
Many did not.
If today's level of social media and news had been available back then - you would have heard about more than just the big items that made national news.
Regarding vehicles, if more reports of failures could have surfaced in the news way back, likely would have been more recalls too.

Shoot, warnings on bags to not put over your head started long ago before media of today - because .... idiots.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next big thing with so many vehicles and ability to tow and so many more people probably not looking anything up regarding it - would be going beyond the current systems that make it easier to get setup to tow, to actual systems that will refuse to tow if you appear to be going over weight or bad balance, ect. Will just take more accidents showing people aren't doing their due diligence and killing others.

Automobile fatality wise not very well☠

People to this day still die in vehicle accidents yet we still accept whatever risk remains. That same risk was accepted 60 or 112 years ago too, before government involvement. And no matter what government requires next, people will still die in vehicle accidents.

And to the point of this thread, how many who's new trucks are in the stop sale order give a crap about a potential back up camera problem anyway?

I guess whatever batch of new hardware they received at the factory will allow them to keep pumping them out.

But now another batch required to be available to dealers?
Yikes. I guess gives time to hone the instructions on replacement so it's as fast as possible.
Of course with suitable quality since that's job 1!

As far as "idiots" are concerned, Darwin had an excellent theory!
