Here you go. I mailed him two blanks and one of my keys and he sent them back cut. Both work in my doors, but only one programmed correctly to start the truck. Which is not his fault, it is the fault of the key chip being bad.

You are probably aware that you can remove the key blade from the fob and try installing it on another new fob and try programming it.
Just info for other newer members here :)

Unfortunately, the two I sent were not the flip key fob type/I don't have Push button start. The chip is baked into the handle/fingerhold/head of the keys I sent. So I can't move the cut metal portion since it is all one piece.

You have to have both Original Keys that came with your Truck...in order to make a new third key.
Not exactly, you just have to have two keys that have been programmed to your truck. They don't have to be the originals.

I'll keep a lookout for that section. I don't have a truck or a manual yet, but I have been slogging through the PDF one online. I'm only to about page 175 though.
In 2022 manual MY KEY is on pages 66-72.

I see the key that pops out of the base but haven’t found anything about dumbing down the key to limit access to the truck. The section in my manual is called Keys and Remote Controls.

For those looking to have a extra key and fob as a backup. I purchased 2 keys with just a picture I sent them. I program Both keys and they work just as good as the ford oem. So 2 backup keys for $70.

I am assuming you had two working keys and used those plus the truck to program your new keys? I only received one key from the dealer. The truck had 145 miles on it. How did someone lose a key in 145 miles?

Because I did not buy it from the locksmith, none of the locksmiths in Las Vegas would cut or program the key and guarantee that it would work.
I can hardly fault them for not guaranteeing anymore than turning the tumblers.

I've had this is come up more than a couple of times due to my Cadillac problem. I'm not sure when it started, but through '98 or '99, I believe, the PK-2 key worked by embedding a resistor in the key. 17 different values, iirc, and the engine wouldn't start (and disabled for a minute?) if the wrong resistance was measured.

This means, of course, 17 different blanks.

I think I've had online blanks cut at Gene's in Henderson (but that was nearly a decade ago), AA (Ace? something like that) on tropicana near the walmart, and the chevy dealer on Sahara.

For several years the Porsche key stores driver's preferred seat, mirror, etc settings for multiple drivers and when you insert each key the seats and mirrors adjust accordingly to that driver's key.
amateurs!

Cadillac in the 90s (and likely the 90s) did it by key fob; they came with a 1 and a 2.

The car remembered the settings for both, and for exit. When you pushed "unlock" on the remote, it went to the appropriate set. You can tap the exit button, but some automatically go to that set on park. Seat position, steering wheel position (tilt & telescope), and the radio stations, current station, and volume stored for 1 & 2. I believe exit doesn't change the stations.

Kind of cool to shift into park and have your seat adjust and the steering wheel retract to the console (at lest for us tall folk). Also cool was a setting I found (later models only, I believe) that would automatically tilt the passenger window down when you put it in R . . .

[ok, I'm easily amused. I freely admit it].

In my 2022 manual Mykey paragraphs are
located immediately after Keys and Remote Controls. You might look in your manual's index for MyKey there are six or seven entries in index for different paragraphs. Maybe Ford eliminated the option in subsequent years. Basically you create an additional Admin Key then you start truck with any of the Admin Keys EXCEPT ONE WHICH IS NEEDED TO RESET/CHANGE ANY MY KEYS. You go into menu, settings,... to create a MyKey. Manual has step by step.

that could work...prolly gonna look at the Forscan solution.
Might check into key fob protective covers or replacement covers on Amazon for making buttons not as easy to accidentally push.

I was setting mine off all the time. I dripped superglue both sides of the alarm button, let it dry, and it hasn't gone off since.

There may be a design element to this. If you needed it, you'd want it to going off very easily.
