It hard to believe that FORD has made a replacement key(s) so difficult.

No different than a great number of vehicles out there, many that have been around for years.

Include the number of dealers and locksmiths that are willing to lie as to actual requirements for a replacement key - even more!

Ok, maybe their info is wrong and they are only stating what they see in writing. But I'm betting not all of them.

My 2005 Rav4 was claimed to be chipped, and with only 1 original and no online method I could find to do my own vehicle learn process (for a reason), I settled on a plain cut key just to get in for getting the keys I may have locked in.
Low and behold - it unlocks and starts the Rav, no chipped key required. Ugh.
Locksmith and dealer were ..... wrong.

my local costco has a key and fob service there about every 6 months. prices seem reasonable, they cut and program it with you there.

For those looking to have a extra key and fob as a backup. I purchased 2 keys with just a picture I sent them. I program Both keys and they work just as good as the ford oem. So 2 backup keys for $70.

I ordered one of these for my new 2025 XL. Programmed it via the ignition using the 2 original admin keys and it appeared to work fine. It said it was programmed and now works to start the truck however the key fob didn’t program with it. Should it have?

I tried changing the battery and redoing the process, still nothing. Does the system now think I have 4 admin keys?

Anything I can do to program the fob separately?

I stopped at the Costco service and they wanted $290+...and a 2 hour time frame to make the key...schedule an appt and come back in 3 or 4 days to make the key.

My Ford Dealer wanted me to leave the truck with them for 4 hours.

Backup 3rd key for Audi, MiniCooper and Porsche 911 took 10-15 minutes max. It really should be a simple quick issue.

Truck logs the code in the key chip - since it's the same code on 2nd attempt, I'd hope it didn't.
You'll find out when you try to do a 4th key at some point - now you'll have this in your memory as to why you are getting the error about no more keys available.

This may work, but no one has ever mentioned needing to do a fob programming, so perhaps your fob is on the wrong frequency? Or the wireless module is bad.
All it's doing is sending the key chip code via wireless, the truck approves it and does the action of the button press.

AI Overview

To program a Ford key fob, you can perform the following steps:

  1. Close all the doors of the vehicle
  2. Open the driver's side door
  3. Press the UNLOCK button on the driver's side door
  4. Turn the ignition from OFF to RUN eight times within 10 seconds
  5. Press any button on the key fob within eight seconds
  6. The door locks will cycle to confirm the key fob is programmed
  7. Repeat the steps for any additional key fobs
  8. Turn the ignition to OFF
  9. The door locks will cycle again to confirm the programming is complete

I tried to get a replacement fob for my 2022 XLT Maverick from Costco but they couldn't cut or program it. This was about a month ago.

I have a 13 year-old Ford that has the same system. I always keep 3 admin keys around, so it's never been an issue. They're affordable if you program them yourself, and I don't believe I've ever lost a car key so I don't have much to worry about.

On the other hand, I have a 2000 model Jeep that I needed a new key made for because the original two were very worn, to the point where they weren't good candidates for machine duplication. I went to the local Chrysler dealer, handed them a piece of paper with the hand-written VIN on it, and a few minutes later I had a brand new shiny Jeep key without even proving that I owned the vehicle.

Personally, I prefer Ford's system.

Thanks tbone. The pic ad you showed looks different then was seen in the original post #1, on page 1 above. where it reads years up to 2021 maverick from ARSOMI company

But as you showed above the key is for 23 and 2024. Is this the same company, ARSOMI listed in the original post of this thread on page 1 in which owner takes picture of their key to be duplicated?

If it is not the same company, but still uses a picture to duplicate the key, then would you let me know where you found that company? thank you

It's the same company, ARSOMI, that I ordered the key from for my 2024 and it's in the same ad.

At the top of the page is this:

As you scroll down the page, you see this. It's compatible with 2022-2024 Mavericks:

I did buy (120ish bucks) the key fob from Costco and was told to come back the next day to have the key cut. They supposedly didn't have the right cutting thing to cut the key. Came back the next day and they informed me they couldn't program the fob so I got a refund. For $299 I would get the OEM fob from the dealership which I will probably have to do since I only have one admin fob.

Just want to say thanks to the OP for finding and posting about this. I ordered one last Sunday. It shipped the same day and I received it on Thursday. The key fit into the door and ignition as good as the OEM keys. Programmed in seconds and works perfectly. Can't beat it for under $40. I wish they sold a programmable "fobless" steel key that could be cut from a photo.
I wanted a key for surfing. Best option I could find was one that I keep in my HitchSafe - Strattec 5923293 HU101 transponder key*. Not waterproof, but no fob and smaller/cheaper.
Used one of the online mail-in key cutting options and programmed it myself.

*also OEM supplier, I believe. Def better quality than Chinese fob options.

Thanks! It's odd that there aren't more companies that sell these keys, that will also cut from a photo.
