I wash our 3 year old maverick once a year,in the spring, with dishsoap, and give it a coat of paste wax. Still looks like new. Wax application costs about 3 bucks.

I always had good luck with McGuires products. You probably won't go wrong using them. Their stuff isn't as good as the old mirror glaze stuff they sold in the 70s though. When you waved your car with Mirror Glaze, it stayed on. Many with show cars used their products

Nothing protects your finish more than keeping it in a garage. Keeping it out of the weather will do more good than anything

Any of the Turtlewax Wax Hybrid solutions are good options and prices well. You can spring for more expensive stuff but it starts to get to the point of diminishing returns.

That said, I've been impressed with Adam's graphene advanced in the spray bottle. Still going strong after almost a year.

Biggest thing is high quality microfibers, using clean water with at least 3 buckets (clean water for soap, rinse water, and a wheels/tire water and soap) and making sure to add protection regularly. Wash car as often as needed and remove sap, grease or bird droppings as soon as possible. Pressure washer helps too.

I'm sold on the ceramic coating sprays. Much more durable and longer lasting than wax. Just make sure you follow the directions on the bottle otherwise you'll find it leaving swirl marks. Turtle Wax has a good reasonably priced ceramic which with two applications will last 6 months.
