My son, the BMW Master Tech, noticed a lot of moisture inside one of my taillight assemblies, specifically it looked like it was in the clear backup light area. 1 Dealer service advisor I called said to leave it with them for 4-5 days! The other smaller local dealer service advisor told me that these assemblies are vented and sometimes appear to have a good bit of moisture in them (Not puddles). He said to give it 2 days to see if it goes away. Today (2 days from last water event, a carwash) it was almost all

gone.

My son the mechanic and I both feel that if this amount gets in regularly it will corrode the bulb sockets. He said to ask for the engineering design page of the venting design! He also said that that amount of moisture on the lens interior will result in the lens holding dirt, transmitting less light and could be a safety issue for vehicles following me. I'd like to see the defense argument for that lawsuit of an accident from dirty wet interior surface that cannot be easily cleaned.

Anyone have experience with this issue, before we get into the heavy rains and hurricane season!

Yes it's true most all headlight and taillight assemblies are vented they have a type of vinyl fabric tape over the opening somewhere on the back side.

Sadly some to get water and or moisture inside of them, but after a few hours weather change or couple days the moisture should evaporate out. If not it's a warranty issue.

To me that looks like quite a bit of moisture I would double check to see that that bulb is seated properly and or has a o-ring around the bulb connector. Pretty easy to check by removing to 7 mm bolts I believe and then tail light housing just pulls out.

Ford replaced the brake light on the back of the cab of my Maverick for the same issue. I have never had any moisture in my Maverick's tail lights, it's parked outdoors all the time, even after three years.

Looking at the pictures, that amount of moisture is excessive. If you are under your factory bumper to bumper warranty it’s covered - just make sure the moisture is as obvious as it is in the picture.
