Engine racing while in park

I had just started my 2024 Maverick Hybrid XLT and was sitting in a store parking lot. I was answering a text when all of a sudden the engine started racing! I did not have my foot on the accelerator. I turned it off and on again, and within a minute or two it did it again! I put it in reverse and drove it out of the parking lot and drove it home with no problem. I have never encountered this situation before in the nearly two years I've had the truck. It was 30 degrees outside. Not sure if that had anything to do with the engine revving. Any ideas? Do I need to have it checked out?

It’s the ICE charging the HV battery, it’s fine. My Maverick does, as did my Toyota Hybrids, the same thing if the HV battery had a low charge.

I noticed mine started doing this right after the last OTA update. The ICE speeds up and it sounds like there is a shop vac running under the hood. I does seem like the truck putting a charge on the HVB. I usually let it run like that for about a min after I park & then shutdown.
