The OCD "my pristine Maverick is scratched" threads are bonkers. Guys, it's a Hobbit Truck. You ever looked at Hobbit feet? They're not covered in shiny Italian leather - they're hairy dirty feet. Your Maverick is a truck. Trucks get scratched. The more scratches on your Hobbit truck, the more likely people will nod their heads in acknowledgement that "yea, I guess maybe it really is a truck".

For the OCD crowd, I have a suggestion. It's not the fact that your Maverick has a scratch that's bugging you. It's that the scratch stands out in isolation. Here's my modest proposal... Buy a flail and have at it all over your interior and bed. Then drive down a gravel road at full speed behind an F-150. Now the scratches, dents and chips will be wonderfully evenly distributed in a randomized pattern and will no longer bother you. Plus, real truck people won't giggle when you drive by. Brilliant!

Agreed. With all the sh%t drivers nowadays, a door ding is just around the corner. Embrace the blemishes and remind yourself it's an inexpensive truck, not a Rivian.

Just don’t wash it, that helps too. I never wash my cheap daily vehicles.

Yep. The first is the worst but then get over it. You want it pristine forever keep is parked in the garage on jack stands under a car cover.

Luckily my wife got it out outta the way right off the bat! The Mav had less than 300 miles on it when she side swiped my Acadia on the parking lot at work......

Hey now, you're going to upset the owner types who get a bed rug/bed mat for their spray in bed liner so it doesn't get scratched. o_O

Its one thing to get scratches from things that are supposed to cause scratches but what I have read is this thing scratches just by looking at it.

Its not because its plastic its because its cheap plastic. As many have said there's 20 year old plastic that doesn't have this issue.

For the $21,500 might be acceptable but once you get in the 30k range that is unacceptable. So I don't think it has to do with OCD but more of getting ripped off.. You might not care about your money but to belittle someone that does is unnecessary.

That may be a bit of overkill. I've always heard that you should kick a dent into a new car so that its on you, and not someone else. It was easier when fenders were metal, nowadays the plastic just bounces back.

I keep reading threads about the plastic scratching easily. I have almost 7K miles on my Maverick and have no such experience with scratching in the plastic.

In full disclosure, I don't eat in my cars, don't have pets in the car, don't have any kids, etc.

Hmmm. Wondering how not eating in your vehicles helps to avoid scratches. I guess if you were using a steak knife you could scratch something but my lowly cheeseburger from paradise and french fries seem harmless!! However, my son will not let me eat fast food in his vehicles because of the grease smell. If it's not one thing, it's another!!! :)

Same here, but I'm only up to 4300 miles.

Yeah, the truck is there to serve me, not the other way around.
The newness will keep it up on a pedestal for a little bit but after a few loads of manure, scrap metal, firewood and whatever. Taking it down some fireroads to find a put-in it will acquire a little extra caracter.

I’ve learned not to tell other people what they should or shouldn’t do with their stuff.

Want to beat the crap out of your truck, go ahead.

Want to keep your truck beautiful and flawless, go ahead.

imo i dont fear scrstches and dents but i do try to keep the vehicles lookin nice. i know if i do get a mav a dent is around the corner and thats alright, but imo i like to keep what i have looking good, as in ill wash & wax it etc but if a dent or scratch comes round its alright. will just use touch up to make sure wont rust.
