If posting something like this please add some context as to why, what and how relevant. I came across this same older video when researching EcoBoost before ordering my own. As even noted in the video, Ford has made improvements over the various versions of the Ecoboost and by all accounts is a reliable engine. By any external measure, the Ecoboost / Turbo engines have been a ridiculous success and show great longevity - but yes went through teething pains when first introduced. But “Ecoboost” is big family of essentially just turbo engines, each somewhat unique.

Finding detail on the Maverick 2.0 is a bit more difficult and might be more helpful than an older Ecoboost in a different vehicle that is effectively not the same engine as the Maverick 2.0. To be direct - if you want to talk about engine issues and longevity, the kinks are still being worked out of the 1.5 and 2.5 + hybrid powertrain to a degree, and other seem more with the electrical, battery, etc.. Would love to know the actual stats but time will tell. Fine to post issues - but please make sure relevant or add in the context as to why.

Otherwise just another flavor of social media hyper sensationalism we all suffer from, IMHO.

Just came to mind when a neighbor with a year old Bronco Sport had a turbo failure.

Another Maverick Site I guess with Old Information?

Without concrete numbers on failures and their causes, these types of lists are essentially useless. And no one has concrete numbers.

I agree with you. Now how do you get the concrete numbers from Ford? Not a chance, so all the public information is confusing and sometimes bogus.

The maverick EB engines are solid! These motors are made in the plant in Spain. The 2.0l EB motor in the escape that was made in the USA had quality control issues a few years back. Do your oil changes with full synthetic every 5k and you will be fine

Have owned 3 Ford Turbo products. 79 Mustang, 86,87 T bird. Never had a problem beat the crap of them. My complaint unless the turbo was boosting it was oink time. Although these were bigger turbos din't start working till almost 2800-3000 rpm.

The 87 was really interesting, Im thinking some type of cheat programming. In 3rd gear or higher at above 4000 rpm wot, the boost would go to 16+ psi. Normally never exceeded 10-12 psi. Car really felt fast at that point.

we dont know that.

there may be underlying design flaws with the maverick motors that we arent aware of yet.

since Ford took the Ecoboost into their own hands (ie not Mazda ecoboost) their track record has been poor to say the least.

In all honesty, Ford has pretty much screwed the pooch on everything they've touched over the last several years. What did they just recall today, a few million vehicles? Ana stop-sale on the Mach E? I'm a longtime Ford fan and owner and wish them well, but they have a really bad reputation in the industry as the Keystone Cops of auto making, just a hair better than the disaster known as FCA. They come up with great ideas like the Bronco and Maverick and then botch the execution badly.

The one wonderful exception is the F-150, which is the jewel in Ford's crown, and which gets all the corporate love and attention. Which is fair because it makes all the money. Your Maverick was probably subsidized by an F150 owner.

Execution is excellent! (at least on the EB's for the most part) Nothing else on the market like it for the price.....at this point.

Getting units delivered and customer service has been an issue, but it's that way for any company trying to make and deliver something bigger than a washing machine to tens of thousands of impatient customers during an unprecedented economic situation.

My Maverick has been great. Yours probably will be too. I hope you get it soon. It's a nice little rig. 👍

Seriously, based on real oil sample testing I have been doing for almost 20 years, that's a waste of oil.

I was running full syn in my F150 3.5EB and ran the oil to 10K once, then had it tested by Blackstone Labs. They said, "you can go longer".

I opted to change it between 8-9K just to be super conservative.

Just sayin, 5K is a waste of money for an OCI. YMMV

I put 90,000 on a 2015 Escape 2.0 EB and never took it to the dealer for anything. I also drove it like I stole it, burn the front tires all the way though 1st and part way through 2nd. M1 oil changes every 7500 miles, Great Car!
