Hey I got a 2025 XL. I had them swap out the steels for alloys on delivery in March. I drove them in the snow once or twice. This afternoon I put my winter steels on that came with the truck and there's already a ton of rust. Like I've never had a new vehicle I've changed my own wheels and tires my whole life I've seen my fair share of rust but like 6 months in the summer on a 2025?
Anyways I scraped it off with a wire brush and hit it with some converter. It's going to the dealer should I tell them to clean it?

Completely normal. If this bothers you, be sure to not look at the front knuckles.

Haha thanks for saving myself from embarrassment. The dealer is giving me a complimentary windshield for a chip that happened on delivery.

Since you are in Canada, I would recommend spraying some Krown treatment on a rag and wipe the rusty looking surfaces. i do this with all my vehicles and it also keeps the corrosion between the hub and wheel under control.

Alberta where I'm from doesn't use as much salt as the coast or ontario. because it's so cold it doesn't do anything anyways. I usually tape off the rubber and connectors and hose it down with asphalt tar then drive on a dusty road. I've only done around the wheels and exposed frame near the back. I did a bunch when I put the aluminum skid plate on. Some water must have got in behind the alloys when they got put on at the dealer.

Is that the same as fluid film? I think I have some black lanolin

Don't forget to coat your brake rotor wear surfaces with wheel bearing grease to prevent them from rusting :p

Narrator voice: that's a joke, don't do that or you'll probably die

You could also put just a small swipe of wheel bearing grease on those threads to prevent rust!

Fluid Film would work very well. I guess I should think about my winters as well. I usualy hesitate because October can be warm and sunny but life in the Canadian rockies you can never tell

That looks normal for a nearly one year old vehicle.
