Taking delivery of my 2023 white XL. having the dealer install the lift but I don't like their selection of wheels/tires. I see several companies who will sell you mounted/balanced wheels and tires.

I can envision receiving them and driving down the road in a paint shaker lol... wanted to get some feedback from the group as to your experiences or possible horror stories ordeirng wheel/tire packages online. for the good experiences, what vendor did you use.

Or... is this a fools errand and should I just buy the wheels and tires locally?

Not that it matters, but I'm doing a 2" front/1" rear lift. plan on 17 x 8.5 25 offset fuel zephyr and 245/65 tires. not sure of brand yet but that's like asking what brand of car is best lol

Having owned a truck and offroad shop where we sold a lot of wheel and tire packages, this is what I consider the most important element of your decision between on-line and local.

If you purchase on-line and get it wrong, you may be SOL. A good online seller might take them back but shipping is on you. A local shop can help with expertise and test fits to ensure you get the right setup.

We used to have a Town Fair Tire diagonally across from us and I realized their customer was not ours. Their customer had to go in knowing what they wanted, buy it, and go away. Online sellers and chain tire stores are mostly that model. Low touch, high volume.

Our customers wanted advice, consultation, and an assurance that they were getting what they intended to get. We walked them through offsets, tire sizes, impact on speedometer readings, tread types, and brand experience. We were a little bit more expensive, but we earned it with our high-touch model.

If you go online, use the online calculators and visualizers to be sure you're getting the look you want. Really make sure you understand fitment and lug type requirements. We routinely saw customers who didn't do that and the screaming deal turned into a loss if we couldn't fix what they'd gotten wrong.

I like @Discount Tire because you can order online, for your specific model and then make an appointment to get everything installed when everything is available. I'm not sure what happens if you order the wrong size, but since you bought from them it shouldn't be too much of a hassle.

I think the size I want will work as I've seen a few online builds using the wheels i want and tire sizes have been discussed a lot on this forum. With that said, there is value to bringing my lifted vehicle to a local place and stroking a check and making the fitment their problem. Honestly, the cheap F in me is still tempted to save the money and take the risk so i have to think more on this.

I'm definitely set on the dealer doing the lift as I don't want to hear it later on if I need to bring it back for some kind of unrelated warranty issue.

Ordered 2 sets from Tire Rack in the last few years. Discount Tire is also a partner with them and will mount them if you don't buy tires also.

I used wheelhero.com. Everything was awesome. Ordered online shipped from Florida to New York in less than a week. 4 rims and tires mounted and balanced with new tire pressure sensors. You can get the programmer off Amazon for less than $10. Takes about 2 min to programs them.
