I know that the factory spec is 150ish foot pounds on the oem wheels. I was curious whst people are setting their after market wheels at. Most manufactures do not never mention anything that high. People say the the larger 14m stud is the reason for the spec. After doing some research I’ve read that 14m studs are usually up to 120 foot pounds and most after market wheels are rated for 85 to the low 100s. So I’m wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on the topic and if you tightened your new wheels to 150 with no damage to the wheels or aftermarket lug nuts you had to use?

I am glad you asked this question because I have been wondering the same thing.
I ordered a 2023 XL and have already bought aftermarket wheels. Sparco Terra's.
I thought when I get the truck I would contact Tire Rack , who I bought the wheels from, and ask about lug torque.

So TireRack pointed you to a blog that simply cut and paste directly from the owners manual. Did TireRack consider that helpful?
I didn't think they were going to tell me some other torque spec. I feel like if they tell you a lower than OE spec and something happened they may be at fault. Who knows. I'm sure the OE spec will be fine for any aftermarket wheels.

Yep. Totally agree with you about them avoiding liability.

I just think it is funny that they almost make it seem like they have a great write-up all about the Maverick and some insider info about maybe the torque specs can differ from the manual, then link you to something that is a cut and paste. If I were TireRack, I would have just said "read the manual". Or linked to the PDF of the manual direct from Ford. It just seems weird to send people to a blog that is a cut and paste.

My other thought was what is the difference between say an aftermarket wheel like the Terra and the OEM wheels that come on the XLT or Lariat?

The wheel is not a factor. Torque spec is for the nut and bolt size.
