I’ve been having some issue with my Maverick. Odd noises, parts failures, and really hot turbo.
Went to Turbo Lab in Vineyard UT and put it on the rollers for diagnostics.
The fluttering/chuffing while in the boost is a weird one. Previously I changed out the Wastegate actuator module, and that helped some.
It sounds like the turbo is fighting back pressure. Possibly a failing/clogged cat, or failing turbo. The chuffing noise was identified to be the blow off valve. It is spitting air out while under boost. Turbo smart and Factory part are doing the same thing. When the Tech commanded 22lbs of boost it was hitting 22/18 22/19 22/20 etc. you could see it dropping in and out on his computer. Also, I know turbos get hot, but under boost, it was glowing….
For now I’ll strip it back to stock and drive it for a few months, get some key cycles in and then hit up the dealer.
