So today I was dropping the kids off at grandmas. I decided to try out a few of the other "Drive Modes".

Eco: Nice and normal what I have been driving as. Most of my drives are back and forth from daycare and family runs or will be hardware/wood trips.
Slippery: No idea what this does or how it changes the way you drive. Will have to take out to a snow covered empty parking lot and have some fun.
Normal: Okay, normal.
Tow/Haul: Know it but will rarely use.
Speed: WHAT THE HECK!!! "I am speed, ca-chow!"

I'm curious what you here think of this drive mode. I like the fact I have power and will be able to use it if I need it. Jumps nicely and gain speed very quickly. But besides maybe emergency or aggressive highway situation, what do you here use it for if ever? It was really fun jumping on the high way an getting up to 70 and barely having to put the petal down.

Side question for off roaders/hunter. Do you change your drive mode going into the woods?

My ā€˜25 Lobo will stay in Sport Mode always - maybe ā€œLoboā€ mode occasionally.

I’m ā€œbreaking inā€ my engine/turbo currently…no ā€œgiving it the beansā€ yet. But is already a race car compared to my Corolla Hatchback 2.0 liter w/CVT that I traded in.

17.6mpg so far at 250mi total. After break in, ???

Luckily I’m retired & normally only drive around 2000mi/yr - so crappy gas mileage won’t add up to much more than great gas mileage.

I'm retired and 1 of the reasons I traded my Silverado that got 15 locally and up to 20 on the highway was for better gas mileage. If I wanted a fun ride with bad mpg I would have gotten a Mustang GT. But it's your gas money so enjoy. I do wonder though what advantage does sport mode do in stop and go urban driving.
Mustang GT? I couldn’t get in & out of that! Way too fast for me also - Maverick Sport Mode is just right for me & unwary pedestrians!

I’m only driving about 2,000mi/yr. The difference between ECO Mode mpg & SPORT mode mpg will add up to about $200 in extra gas per year. Worth it to me.

For the hybrid: Sport mode keeps the engine running when you're moving to charge the HV battery so you get maximum acceleration potential from the HVB when you floor it. It also increases the steering and pedal responsiveness. You'll likely top out at about 32mpg in sport mode if you aren't driving it like it's stolen. The only time the engine shuts off in sport mode is when you come to a stop.

My first tank was a long distance highway driving. Mostly Eco and Normal. ~27 mpg

I'm still not broken in yet, waiting for ~1000 miles and i'll do first Oil change and clean out all the break-in contaminates, then letter rip.

I've used Sport a couple times, and Lobo once.
Sport is a sweet spot, esp with manual mode - in the twisties.
It holds gears well enough for public road driving.

I wish Sport had some of the rear-diff trickery enabled like Lobo mode. (or maybe I can hold the Mode button and defeat some TCS, like I could on my FoST?)
But I found Lobo's gear holding a bit too aggressive for roads. Its probably good for its intention; track.
I'd just like to take advantage of all of the other Lobo mode 'tricks' in Sport mode, with just a bit less aggressive nature in shifting and gear-holding.

I use sport mode to get on a highway. Otherwise I am in ECO or normal. Speed is great but your mpg will drop like a rock in a swimming pool.
So, ā€˜Speed’ mode must be a ā€˜25’ thing cause it isn’t on my ā€˜24’. And I’ve got everything on my’24’.

LOL It is "Sport" mode. But I'm sorry, I call it "Speed" mode. Red and fast...it's SPEED MODE.

I find sport mode ideal for low speed city driving, for the quicker throttle response, but it sucks on the open roads, just holds gears too long, and is not smooth. I would rather just induce WOT in normal mode on open roads.

 My 2025 Maverick Lariat Hybrid has so many bells & whistles that I have not tried them all. I do remember a ⚽ Sport mode but I only have 743 miles.

Now I am going to have :inspect: check to see if I have a šŸŽ Speed mode.

I agree the Sport Mode Holds gears to long and doesn't upshift and the RPM's are too High. When I had the BS BB with the 1.5 EB i had the Pedal Max on it and it was great it was like Sport Mode but didn't hold gears too long and upshifted to the next gears!!

I tried normal mode & slippery mode doing doughnuts in a snowy parking lot. In normal mode it would do doughnuts but decent handling. With slippery mode I could barely do doughnuts because of better traction & handling. I have the Ecoboost 2.0 XLT AWD. In Sport mode very noticeable power & quick acceleration. I only use Eco mode for long interstate trips.

Tow mode increases compression braking on hills. use it to tow of course but if you want more engine braking on steep descents then just dial in Towing as desired.
