First thing that pops in my mind is that at night it looks out of the ordinary and might make a cop take a second look at u while driving.

As being a retired police office, I would only look at you if it WASN'T lit up.

It does have far and away the brightest license plate light of any vehicle I have owned, and I was a bit surprised when I first saw it too, but I wouldn't say it bothered me.

Just bend the license plate a bit backward a bit & most of the light will stay on it, or use a magic marker & color the outside of the light to turn it into a spotlight instead of a floodlight.

Nope! The speed of light is kind of a universal speed limit. So it just still goes forward at the same speed.
