I like it . I spin it to the right to go , spin it to the left for park . Reverse isn't that tricky .

Drove all types of sticks as a young man . The one that threw me off was a SAAB with a 4 speed on the tree . Thought it was a 3 speed , couldn't figure out why it stalled so easy in what I thought was first gear ....it was second !
I figured it out ....

Rotary shifter sucks

I'm not a fan of the rotary shifter, are you?
I love the rotary shifter. It works great and doesn't take up much room. Once you get used to it, you don't even need to look at it. My wife drives a corsair with push button shifting. You have to look to shift that.

That author sounded like a preteen using as many obscenities as possible to impress other preteens. As for the article itself, it was the usual immature garbage you find on Jalopnik. The phrase, "Immature little ----" comes to mind.

Personally I've grown to like the rotary shifter. I don't even look these days. I spin one way for drive, and the other for park. And spin plus one click back for reverse. But opinions are like noses: everybody has one.

works fine. if you're thinking about a traditional T-handle shifter in this exact place, think about how you would reach the lower cubby area in front of the shifter. you could, but not easily.
And, your girlfriend couldn't slide over to sit on your lap.

Definitely the biggest peeve of mine on my mav. 3 point turns are SO slow. I would love a manual maverick.
I would love a manual too and used to drive nothing but. Times have changed and (kicking and screaming) so have I. When I feel like driving a stick and cheating death I ride my bike or my Miata.
I do like the clever design and smoothness of the eCVT.

No it does not suck.

It works great for me.

Took me only a week to get used to it.

People seem to have no patience anymore.

It took me a couple of weeks to get used to it, but now, after over 2 years of driving with it, I like it. It feels awkward now when I drive my gf's car with a traditional floor shifter.

I’m a big fan of it. I much prefer it over a traditional shifter that just takes up space in the center console area. I would be very disappointed if Ford switched back.

I'm good with it now. I kind of even like it (but like others, I wouldn't mind of the gear stops were a little more delineated).

I did grab air a bunch of times when I first got it reaching for the stick shifter.

I've become quite accustomed to it. What helps is that several years ago I worked at a dealership as a service porter so I drove a fair share of cars with rotary shifters. Although a mechanical shifter is more satisfying, I will say a rotary is better than a push button. Those are just stupid. Too much of a learning curve.
