... I don't think it does. Today, remote started the truck about 1 to 2 minutes before driving off. It was 2 degress celcius drove 4km, 2km electic, and got a 6.5 l/100km. This is so much better than if I just jump in the truck start it and drive. So, I suspect the remote start fuel isn't counted.

Thoughts?

Thanks

If your vehicle is running but not going anywhere (aka: warming up) it is getting ZERO MPG. It counts.
It counts if you actually turned the vehicle on, but in my experience remote start is different and does not (at least on the “this trip” counter).

This is what I remember. It may count for the overall average but not for that trip.

Why would you possibly care about 2 mins idle time? Do you worry about red traffic lights too?

On Ecoboost equipped models, this is where Auto Start/Stop would step in...so no worry there....Hybrids don't have a dedicated AS/S system per se....

So, thanks for the replies, I did this experiment when I went to pick up my daughter from the train station last night:

1/2 hour before the trip:

Record state of Trip1
Reset state of Trip2

I remote started the truck in the app 2 minutes before I got in the truck.

When I got in the truck, checked, Trip1, Trip2 and Current Drive.

None of these indicated the 2 minutes of time at all, Trip2 and Current drive started when I pressed the start button in the truck. As Trip1 has a lot of km and time on it already I can't say it bumped up the l/100km number at all, but given that Trip2 and current drive didn't I'm assuming it did not.

So my current conclusion is that when the truck is remote started and running the engine that this fuel consumption is not tracked and makes your truck recorded mileage look better, but adds to the error between truck and fill-up numbers which I'm tracking and is currently a factor of 1.05 multiplier.

To address the comments, it's not about time the ICE engine is off, only when it's on, obviously it's not using fuel when the engine is not active and it's on battery. But remote start at 1 degree C definitely has the engine running when I remote start.

This behaviour differers from my Accord Hybrid which tracks all fuel consumption, it's fun seeing at 99l/100km when you hop in the car and drive 50 meters when you've used remote start.

In a hybrid (like the OPs profile says he has) no, the engine is off.
This trip counts the miles traveled while the truck is IN DRIVE. if you take it out of drive "This Trip" is reset.
ETA: when the ice is off you will be getting 999.9 mpg!

:ROFLMAO: Whatever floats your boat. I just drive the truck an enjoy the infrequent trips to the gas station.

I think we’re all aware of the concept of idling…

The point being, if you for example used a trip counter to estimate your MPG between fill-ups, and were comparing/calibrating that against actual usage, it would be completely messed up if you ever used remote start.

So it’s mildly annoying that it doesn’t count.

We had a 2022 Escape Hybrid before we bought our Maverick. It did not count startup idle time in "This Trip" mileage.
But our 2025 Maverick Hybrid does.
We start it and see 2.4 mpg. Soon as you start moving (ie actually putting miles on the figure gets better usually settling at 40mpg by the time we get to town.
