Forgive give me for asking . I did try a rudimentary search.

Does FORscan use leave a footprint that may affect warranty? I'm getting tired of 'OK'ing through the seatbelt advisory and having to switch to ECO mode every time I drive and would like to set mode to default to ECO, as well as turn the annoying seatbelt advisory completely off.

From what I read here this may require manual input via FORscan to adjust the appropriate module(s). I don't want FORD refusing warranty service if they determine I made adjustments.

Thank You folks. Love the site.

You don't have to OK the seatbelt warning. It disappears after 60 seconds.

If your Forscan mod is related to a failure, you might have a warranty problem. Say you adjusted tire size to something beyond spec - and had a suspension issue.

But turning off seatbelt chimes etc can’t invalidate your power train warranty.

Edit: I’m not a warranty specialist or lawyer and did not reread the small print of my warranty:)

Very interesting. It does leave a foot print. However depending on your issue the technician my not even research it. I wouldn't be concerned with the seat belt warning prompt.

Ford can always pull the as built programing from their data base and the vehicles modules. So yes there would be a trail if you change anything. Things like seat belt warning and stuff would most likely not effect the operation stuff, but could effect you if you had an accident and tried claiming that Ford was at fault because the seat belt did not alert you it wasn't fastened, or if a passenger was injured. There was a video were someone had made modifications to their Super Duty's programing and had problems, so they reset it back to stock. They then took it in claiming warranty and Ford found it had like 30 start stop cycles in like 30k miles. Further examination of the control modules and they were able to show several changes to engine and Transmission systems.

You can’t set the default to Eco with ForScan. Best you can do is buy a plug in electrical device that electronically pushes the button for you.

Absolutely every move you make with your phone is documented in the phone, even if you turn the screen from portrait to landscape.

Absolutely every keystroke and mouse movement you make on your computer is saved in the registry.

So yeah, everything you do to the truck, start, stop, break, speed, FORSCAN is recorded and saved.

OP was asking if this footprint will impact warranty coverage. He knows full well the surveillance of the overlords - but was wise enough not to acknowledge them.

However, your response alerting others to the overlords has been duly & electronically noted. You are now on the naughty list. Your warranty may be questioned.

That’s a long sixty seconds in my book. It should default to ten seconds and NO CHIME,
Ever !

It can be tracked, but it would probably have to be related to the issue for the dealer to dig for it. That's why it's good to store the original configuration before changing anything so you can always revert back. Idk I wasn't really concerned with it being an issue, so I just dabbled with it anyway.

When this question came up in 2024. I shot a video confirming it only takes 60 seconds/1 minute for the warning to self extinguish. It was too large of a file to load.

🤷‍♂️I don't know what to say about owners who are upset, about something that doesn't affect anything and literally goes away after 60 seconds, if you buckle up.
It's not like the mode button, that has to be pressed if you prefer to drive in any other mode other than normal.

I'm not sure if owners are "upset" by it, but having to hit OK or wait 60 seconds before you can use the screen every time you start the vehicle can be a mild annoyance. I'm glad you're not annoyed by it Glen but, if you think objectively, you may be able to understand why people don't want or need it.

Having been trained as a young child to put my seatbelt on as soon as I sit down in a vehicle, it is 100% instinctual for me to do so, and I don't need a reminder. I've disabled belt minders in every car I've owned that allowed me to, starting in 2000. 25 years without a reminder, and I wear a seatbelt in every vehicle I drive, 100% of the time, and I can use the screen as soon as I start the vehicle.

Oh, and changing modes doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I drive in normal mode about 90% of the time...

It would be very simple if it was a mode button, but my 25 xlt requires me to enter menu and scroll down, then scroll sideways to enter eco mode. I have to do this every FKN time I start the truck! I gave up, it can burn more fuel!
