With no one offering a truck bed drawer system yet (that I could find) I decided to build my own. About $100 worth of lumber, and now I have plenty of room to store tools, tow straps, etc without having to empty the back seats/remove car seats. Overall height is 8", so the front half of the deck sits on top of the wheel well bumps. Also leaves enough access so I can still get into the storage cubby and access the power panel.

Looks good. I'm not carpenter enough for that so kudos to you there.

other than the bed being short ;)
I was kind of thinking with the drawers pulled out you could maybe make a folding mattress/camping pad work. But yeah, it would definitely be easier if you were 4'6" lol. Well done on the build (y)

Which topper is that?
How do you like it?
Any issue with water invasion?

Thanks

The snug top/Ford licensed topper. So far I have no complaints or issues. the only water i've had has come during a car wash, and coming around the tailgate (not through the topper). Still need to install some good gaskets around the tailgate. I drove through torrential rain a few weeks ago and it was bone dry.

Very nice job! I see your tailgate is not level with the bed, just like mine.

Looks great and seems very functional, while keeping things organized. I like that.

You mentioned you got all the lumber for $100.00 !!?? Where you getting your lumber from? I've been wanting to build new cabinets/work benches in my woodshop for over a year, but with lumber prices so high, I can't see myself doing that anytime soon. 3/4" Plywood, where I live, is Minimum $75 a sheet, for the cheap low grade sheathing. Furniture grade, sanded plywood runs over $100 a sheet. Even 1/2" sheathing is $45+ a sheet. It's just ridiculous.

Looks like that 3/4" plywood on the top and bottom. Assuming it's one 8' sheet, and you cut it in half to make the main box 4' long. Then I see that the drawer bottoms are also plywood, which would require a second sheet. The main supports on the sides and middle look to be 2x10's and the drawers look to be made of 2x8's. From where I'm at, that's $75 a sheet of Plywood (2 of those), $30 for a 2x10x16 (Looks like one would do) and $25 for a 2x8x16 (looks like 3 were needed). that would be $150 + $30 + $75 = $255.

Good for you for get all that for $100, If you can get it for that price, It might be cheaper for me to spend the gas money and buy lumber where you're at, lol.

I got everything at Menards, and used a few scrap pieces I had laying around. It's a 4x4 1/4" ply on the bottom, 1/2" for the top and the drawer bottoms. The vertical walls are 1x8's ripped down to 7" and the drawer sides are 1x6's. A full sheet of ABX sheathing is running ~$35 here, and about $6 for each of the the 1x's.

Very nice. My only suggestion would be to notch out some drawer pulls.

Yeah, that's going to be my next step. I can get my fingers/hands in there as-is, but in the winter with gloves on will be a problem.
