DIY Bed Side Tie Downs

I never understood the need for sliding tie-downs when each bed side has 2 existing tie-downs and 4 bolt holes, the bed is only 4.5 feet long! I wanted to add a tie down to each bolt hole but I wanted something a little less obtrusive than the big eye rings. So I made some short loops from some parachute webbing to add to each bed side. Only cost me 8 bolts (8 x 1.25 x 3/4” long) and some washers. The holes in the webbing I made using a soldering iron to melt the material and prevent fraying and to keep the holes from opening up further after installation. Super simple, super cheap, and gives me plenty of tie-down options for if I ever need them.

Excellent idea!! I hate to show my stupidity, but it will not be the first time, nor hopefully, the last, but I have not seen a Maverick with a drop-in liner. Is that what I am seeing in these pictures??

It has been years since I did spray-in in two trucks and I used Rhino which, at that time, did not have glossy appearance. I like the appearance of yours and wondering who did it? Is it "slick" or does it have enough surface friction to keep things from moving around?

This was Armadillo Liner done by a local body shop. They’ve done other work for me before and they gave me a good price so I went for it despite having limited info on this brand of spray-in bedliner, but I’m happy with it. It’s got only a slightly rubbery feel and lots of texture so it does a great job keeping things from sliding around, but we’ll see how it holds up over time and with use when I start loading it up with lumber and such.

Yep, I considered putting grommets in but I hung off one of these in my shed as a test run and the hole didn’t budge so I think it’s good, that’s nearly 200 pounds of weight on just one strap. If I see any of them start to pull out I’ll reconsider for sure.
