No. I have used tonneau covers on all my trucks going back 20+ years. Everything from V8 & V6 F150s, old style Rangers, 1500 Hemi Rams, and this Maverick. Purely cosmetic and to keep the bed dry. I have noticed no gains in mpg.
You won’t regret it! I replaced the stock Pirelli tires at 5,000 miles after taking a 3” drywall screw through the outer most part of the outer tread. I also up sized up and have noticed no negative effects with the beefier tread and larger size on my MPGs.
I have three Pirelli Scorpion tires for sale. Taken off today at 5900 miles. All three have good tread. Willing to sale all three together or separate. No damage or patches. Asking $100 for all three or $40 each.
Located in Uniontown, PA. Willing to meet locally. No shipping.

They have them listed on their website for $42.40 per set. Also check them out on Ebay. They regularly list parts for sale on that site as well.
I have the same cover on my Maverick. On a sunny day the cover will warm up and soften enough for you to pull it tight on the sides taking out the wrinkles. No worries. Looks good and you will like the flexibility that cover offers over a trifold cover the first time you want to put something...
