Keep the lux. It’s not constrained. The packages will definitely get the first hitches.

Wait - so it's still constrained at the factory but they're shipping out all the necessary parts to dealers?

Why not just send the parts to the factory? Is the accessory hitch somehow a different set of parts from what the factory installs? Or is this a labor issue at the factory? Or are accessory orders also constrained?... maybe prioritized behind factory supply? I'm confused.

The number of hitches that they're selling is minuscule. On top of that, I can't even imagine how stupid high their profit margin is on something like that through the dealerships.

It's more of an ability. Just like on the Tonneau Covers are plentiful but they can only put so many on in a production cycle.

Wiring the hitch after market has always been possible.

Mine has a standalone hitch. Best deal ever for $100.

Until recently, Ford did not have a wiring available under warranty. It kept messing up the wiring in the truck and Ford would not cover it.

Do you know if your dealership prices adding the hitch at $880 or is it cheaper than the Ford Parts website?

Not sure what they are charging for labor. I think I saw 1 hour for the Hitch but I think the wiring is 2 hours.

On my original order I deleted everything that was considered a restraint as they came out. Towards the end of the 2022 model year I ended up with a basic XLT with the oldest order not built/delivered at my dealership. The last order my dealer had taken for the 2022 year was the exact order for my truck but a different color. Mine didn’t get built but the last order on the last day did. I wouldn’t change anything.

@fordvideoguy Tim, any chance you could ask your parts department what the Ford part # is for the (warranteed) wiring harness? The # FT1Z15A416A as shown on the Ford Accessories site has been talked about for a year on this site, and is not Maverick-specific.

Thanks, HRG

I have truck without hitch. My advice is get keep the hitch on your order.

Ford sent me 3 hitches and for whatever reason FedEx couldn't seem to deliver them without losing the hardware or damaging the hitch.

Then there is the wiring itself. The Ford kit is spliced to the factory wiring. I ordered connectors so I could patch them in without cutting wires. I have the tools and skill to do the termination of the wires and assemble the connectors, many do not.

So, you're looking at $500 in parts plus labor. Not worth it in my opinion.
