I installed @Diode Dynamics fog lights yesterday in 100 plus degrees in AZ. Yes I was that impatient. Install took about 4 hours total for this 67 year old geezer. Install was not complicated at all and the instructions were great.

Taking the bumper cover off and reinstalling it took up most of the time. The only thing different that I would suggest is don’t use a Dremmel to cut out the openings. It’s hard to get it at the right angle to cut. I used my oscillating tool. It cut clean, straight and easy. Don’t be afraid to try this project.

The quality is great and I think they really improved the look of my truck.

Use the OEM Ford F-150 headlight/foglight switch which has been heavily documented on this forum.

I respectfully disagree with this suggestion. I have not done my install yet but I have read that thread and understand it. The whole point of that very sophisticated and well done thread is to make sure that the fogs shut off when the high-beams are activated. Nothing on the headlamp becomes constant hot on high-beams, it just sends a signal over the Canbus/LIN to turn them on.

As for the initial question: How independent do you want these fogs to be.
MAX - you tie the switch lead with a male spade to a constant hot like the battery and then it does NOT even care what state the truck is in.
MID - you tie the switch lead with a male spade to either some point that is either in accessory OR run position. Acc seem to be hard to find.
NOT (still dependent) - you go with Diode Dynamics install guide and tie into the DRL.
I messed up. DRL appears to be unrelated.

The solution you linked is both Excellent and Elegant but I would not characterize as Independent. It is complicated with the BCM leads and Forscan reprogramming.

I also think Ford missed the mark here. Fine, go ahead with your LIN/BCM signalling technology. But back feed a lead into the head lamp connector to constantly update on what you did. Ford only used 4/16 pins. I saw another thread where the headlamp was put into the oven to remove the chrome for blacklight but would also indicate the state of the high-beams.

There is an unused wire, the orange one, that goes to the relay. I was wondering if any one who also installed these lights found a use for this unused wire.

Best install I ever did on my Hybrid when Diode Dynamics brought the kit out. Labor intensive but well worth it.

To turn off the fog lights when you turn on your highbeam.

I ran them to my low beams and park lights for the Amber's. Pretty darn nefty.

I am hoping that sooner rather than later somebody will make a kit for the 2025 and new models. If anybody has any knowledge on something in the works in this area please let me know.

@whitsoneric48 looks like Diode Dynamics is focused on bringing other items to production per this response from them in another thread. May have to wait awhile to have their fog lights on your 2025.

Thanks for the information. Maybe in a couple of years when more 25 models and newer are out there wanting this product they will make it.

Nice! Can you provide a shot of where you located the switch on your dash? I am wondering if it’s safe to locate the on/off switch on the far right side of the headlight switch cluster.
thanks.

Mid-Independent? Want to run fog lights in this position and using the diode switch provided to turn on/off.

Blue wire/green stripe Pin3 passenger headlamp is where we all have it if we followed diode instructions. Video says its just an activation wire not a power supply since we are getting that directly from the battery.

I’m also in Arizona and I’m 65 and will also be doing the install on my 2024 AWD XL, I would really like to see how you installed the on/off switch ? Where you ran it thru the firewall, did you use supplied switch etc ?
