Dealer wouldn't take my order and said hybrids won't be available...

This all takes me back 20 years to when Chrysler introduced the PT Cruiser. I have two friends who waited 6 months for their cars to be built, so I guess delays in new cars are not uncommon. I had to wait until a previous car had been paid for before I got our 1st PT...a 2003 we bought used in 2004. It's been modified, pampered and is sitting in the garage waiting for the next car show.
Ford sent me the email that said there is a Maverick in the queue with my name on it, hopefully I'll see it in January.

I was one of those early PT Cruiser buyers. About 10 weeks and the window sticker had my name printed on it.

Been trying to order online via @fordvideoguy 's dealership in Kansas and can't get anyone to call me back. I've called twice now and each time a "maverick ordering specialist" was supposed to call me back. Nothing yet. Sounds like maybe my window is closed. My local dealerships are either clueless or have mandatory add ons from the dealership that adds $1k or more to MSRP. Not going that route.
I will help you, right away, still can order hybrid. Sorry the sales person hasn't called yet, must have had a customer come in and got busy. I'll stop whatever I'm doing to help you get your order submitted. I sent you a private message with my email address.

I think Ford knows how many they can make and are assuming a large portion of orders are not going to be purchased. $0 down for most reservations? No commitment. If they are just announcing limited availability on the Ford build and price website, they must think they can take more orders and fulfill within a 2022 model year.
There is a supply issue getting the batteries, they do not know when they are going to begin full production because of the issue.

Is this official Ford information - like the one that said shipments to begin in January? If so, please cite the source.

Or, merely conjecture based on what a dealer said. I'm giving Ford some leeway on this since they are trying to launch an entirely new product in the middle of the biggest supply chain crisis we may ever experience but the amount of BS floating around out there is really a turn-off.

My dealer showed me a memo he just got from Ford with proposed answers to customer's questions. He made me promise not to post it online -- but I can quote this part:

"New Maverick Hybrid orders for the last 2022 model year capacity are expected to arrive in the summer of 2022."

Read in context of the whole memo -- which talks about getting orders in so that the remaining Hybrid production will all be spoken for -- it's clear that "New Maverick Hybrid orders" refers to the orders being taken now (not to the orders taken months ago).

So... people who are ordering now can expect summer 2022 delivery.

I shopped several dealers and most of them were ready to write the order. I made my decision on the best quote, reputation, and proximity and pulled the trigger on a Hot pepper Red XLT. I'm old enough to be patient ;)

Dealer nearby wouldn't take my order for a XLT Hybrid and told me to wait (and he was kind of a **** about it too), and that I probably wouldn't be able to get one. This is when I asked 3 weeks ago. He spent the first half of the conversation alternating between pushing me to buy a FX4 Lariat in a different color and heckling me saying I probably wouldn't be able to afford it before I even told him a damn thing about my financial info.He spent the second half taking an interest form down, and when I told him that my wife and I were also looking at getting a new house trying to make small talk, he wrote in big letters, NEEDS WIFE HERE.

Luckily the next weekend I remembered an old buddy happens to work at another dealership in a different part of the state that I would be able to talk to him when we visited for Homecoming. Before the end of the next Monday I had a fresh signed order, and a confirmation email that I placed my initial order from Ford.

Not getting ****ed around meant a lot to me, but yeah find another dealer, they will probably be more likely to help

You should name names so that people don't give their business to dealerships who don't rerspect people who know what they want. No excuse for what that guy said to you.

is this just your speculation? I really doubt there is a year's worth (whatever that means) of hybrids already sold.
The email from FORD to hydros oreder owners said it was : trucks has exceeded all expectations - in fact, it's nearly sold out for the 2022 model year. Our 2.0 Liter EcoBoost Maverick began shipping in September and is off to a great start. You may have even seen a few of them around town.

The plant has a production capacity of 300,000 vehicles. Which both the bronco sport and maverick are built at. Assuming maverick will get 50 percent of that production(ford estimated up to 100k Mavericks a year so 1/3) we are looking at 150k a year. As of now 200,000+ Mavericks have been ordered. Additionally ford estimated less than 1/3 would be Hybrid but nearly 2/3s are Hybrid which could in theory double the time to get one depending on drive train capacity limitations.

So yes we are already at a years worth of orders maybe even two years for the hybrid.
