What dealer? My guess is that their webpage will include a description similar to below.

You really have to watch the fine print! My truck was advertised as "on sale" with 3K under MSRP. When I told the dealer "I want that truck for that price" I was informed that that price was only if you qualified for a series of rebates, basically every rebate that was available. I qualified for none of them. I was pissed but they showed in the fine print that their price can include rebates.
So, right after I get off the phone I get a satisfaction survey from Ford - I unloaded on them - deceptive advertising and every other thing I could think of. Dealer texted me and offered me $2465 off the sticker. SOLD! Moral is don't put up with any dealer BS

Most of the problems that you see on this site are actually reports of poor dealer quality. Ford needs to cut a lot of dealers who don't measure up.

When I picked up my ordered ‘23 hybrid Lariat, the dealer tried to muscle me for a ding-repair AND interior rips/vomit on carpet package for a total of $700. I’m ideally picking up my ‘25 hybrid Lariat this week and I’ve let them know that I’m paying my ordered MSRP only.
I am a different sort when it comes to damage on a vehicle that I have ordered, but not taken delivery. I would tell the boss man at the stealership he would be responsible for the damage to my ordered vehicle (have had this actually happen once to about $400.) They fixed it for nothing. I'm not sure if their is any insurance reimbursement or? I originally got this information from a close friend who used to drive car-hauler full of cars delivering around Amarillo and central Texas. He had to explain any damage no matter how small and I believe his company was responsible if it was the drivers fault. No matter who was at fault, (except myself of course) I would not pay anything for repairs. If dealership would not agree, go somewhere else and leave scathing reviews all over social media. Would have my kids or grandkids do it as they are like evil monsters at that sort of thing. Just my onerous old First Sergeant attitude here!

There is always some kind of "Document Fee" that'll run from $200 up.
My dealer charges MSRP at time vehicle was ordered, plus $129 document fee, which is stated on the main page of their website. No other fees and no pressure to buy an extended warranty at all.

In & out of there in 30 minutes. And I had never set foot on the dealership property until I went to pick up my truck. Phone order with no deposit.

Not to mention it's illegal in some places.
And annoying AF when you're stuck in traffic behind an idiot with those blinky blinky brake lights.

And I never understood how that blinky light is gonna alert a driver behind you who's staring at a stupid screen (now, even bigger!).

Thanks for the feedback. I agree. I guess I'm jaded at my old age. There's always something they add on.
Anything added by the dealer is negotiable. If you didn’t ask for it and don’t want to pay for it, tell them that and stick to your guns. I once had a finance manager try to add $500 for vin etching. Told them I wasn’t paying for it and to remove it from the truck. He said he can’t remove it because it was put on at the factory so I reminded him that it would already be included in the sticker price and if he tries stealing from me again I’m walking out. Look the paperwork over well, don’t be in a rush, and don’t give in.

I am a member of the Mustang Club of America. I have ordered 2 vehicles for X plan prices. Saved a lot of money as our dealer fees can be $995-$1385 depending on who you buy from. I’m in Florida so they can charge what they want for dealer fees and paperwork ie: tag transfer.

I was trying to make a deal a few years back on a GMC in Reno NV. They had a great price advertised and it was speced exactly how I wanted it. When we got into negotiations I find they are trying to charge about $1950 over msrp for paint protection, interior protection, theft etching on the windows, same etching on the battery even. They said it could not be removed because it had already been done! A $600 Doc fee on top of that. I told them to take a hike and hung up. Next day they called and offered to cover 1/2 of the upgrades but nothing could be done with Doc Fees. I said no. Later that day they called again stating it was month end and they needed to sell the truck to make their quota. $500 for the adds plus $600 Doc Fee and it was mine so I agreed because it truly was the color and everything I wanted. This was a Tuesday, I told them I had a trip coming up that weekend so I would be up there tomorrow morning to pick it up and to have it ready. He blurted out that wouldn't work because it was showing to be delivered on Friday, it was still in transit. WHAT??????? I chewed him up one side and down the other and called him every phony name in the book!!! How could all these dealer scam adds be already put on a truck that hasn't even hit the ground! I hung up on him and immediately called Chevrolet Concierge and within 3 hours I received a call back from their general manager. They offered me the truck for $4000 off of msrp. I said fine but I won't pay a Doc fee, I pay my secretary and accountant and you need to pay yours. He said he had to charge it to legally be fair to all other customers but he would take another $600 off the truck to compensate. I told him fine but I would only deal with him and it would be best if "Todd" the lying salesman not be around Friday afternoon when I got there.
Deal done, or so I thought, the good and the bad to follow. The good was I get there on Friday, the truck had actually unloaded Thursday afternoon and thier service department had grabbed it and put every scam add on it by mistake. Lol, that was their loss. The bad was I sat down to do all the paperwork and they slid a non disclosure agreement in front of me to sign saying I would never talk to anyone again about what had happened and what they tried to pull on me. I blew up, threatened to call Chevrolet again, but told them I would sign if they agreed to draw up a legal document stating they would never charge another customer these fake addition dealer profit scams ever again. Of course they wouldn't agree to that, I signed everthing but the non disclosure and drove off with my new truck.
These dealer paint protection scams are a spray on product they add to the rinse water when they wash it for delivery. The interior protection is a rattle can of Scotchguard they spray on, $8.00 at the parts house. The window etching is a grit serial number on some tape they put on the window an roll it with a steel roller that etches the number into the glass. Then they reused one of them on the battery case to get an additional $35 from the customer. You can buy these kits yourself for $25.00 and most of that cost is to register that # with an insurance company. It's usually good for 1 to 3 years and then you have to pay annually to keep it up. Oh, and another trick charge was for the plastic film door edge guards that actually were already on a new truck they were just unloading! Be careful, there are scams galore out there. I think it was California that has a law that $200 is the max Doc Fee they can charge. So some of them add up to $1000+ and call it "Doc Fee and Concierge Service". Ripoff Artists!!

I ordered a 2025 hybrid AWD back in August and it's been delivered to the dealership. The Ford cost is one thing. Any insight on what to expect the dealership to add on to the cost? As it is, the Ford cost is pushing the limits of my budget so anything added on could be a deal breaker. Thanks for your input.
If they try to jack up the price just walk away. I’m glad I did that in 2022. I recently bought a 24 Lariat coot with black out package and 4k tow for $6000 below invoice. No dealer fees just tax tags doc stamp. $36000 out the door

Something the average buyer never knows:
Keep in mind that even if a dealer sells you a vehicle at dead invoice price (his price, which is way below MSRP) he is still going to make 3% from the manufacture in what is known as Hold Back.
Hold Back credit is commonly used by the dealership to purchase Parts that he can sell from the parts dept, which have a huge markup. This means that 3% can turn into 6% very quickly.

A dealer is Not likely to sell you a newly released 2025 model for invoice. He’s just not. But a 2024 unit sitting in his inventory, if he’s got a lot of them, could warrant him getting close to invoice price at some point. Almost all dealerships use a finance company to carry the cost of the vehicles sitting on their lot, which is called Flooring. Every day an unsold unit sits on his lot, he pays interest on it and that adds up quickly. Think of it this way; when a dealership has a new 2023 vehicle sitting on his lot, he has paid a Butt Ton of interest on it and he wants to stop the bleeding, so he will be more likely to sell it at dead invoice if you press him. If you don’t press him, he will be happy to sell it to you for full MSRP.

Again, even at Invoice price (ie. wholesale), the dealer still makes at least 3%. Anything above that is just tasty gravy for him. It’s the dealers intent to make as much profit as possible. It’s Your job to keep as much money in your pocket as possible. Very popular vehicles don’t get discounted very much but old inventory does.
