Sitting here going through the forum this afternoon and the local Ford Dealer called me. Mind you I placed my original order there back on 10 June and haven't heard from them up until I canceled the order back on 22 July. Out of the blue they called me to tell me they had just received their first Maverick. They asked if I was interested in coming down to look at it. I said I'm not buying but I'd love to come see it. Told them I'd be there within 30 minutes.

Arrived at Jenkins Ford (formerly Nick Nichols Ford) here in Crystal River, FL.

It was a 2022 Ford Maverick XLT, 2.0 EB, XLT Lux, FX4, 4K towing, Floor Mats, Cargo Mat, there may be some minor stuff. I couldn't get a good photo of the window sticker but I think that is about it.

Wasn't able to drive it as it had just came off the transport truck. But they let me sit in it and look around it.

I was a little sad when I got in and pushed the driver seat all the way back. I am 5'10" and could use a right knee replacement. I was NOT able to straighten my driving knee out very much. It was bent pretty good. I made adjustments to the seat height and if I sunk lower I was able to gain a little more length but it was still bent pretty good. If I raised the seat I lost length and knee bent more. So I'm rethinking if I can drive this thing long distance.

I'm only saying this because as we all saw in the early reviews, everyone was over 6 Ft tall and everybody said there was plenty of room. So for those of you with BAD KNEES, you may have a hard time with this truck. Just say'n

As mentioned, I couldn't get a good photo of the window sticker but I was able to get a good shot at the Dealer Add-ons Sticker. I hope you're sitting down!!!

MSRP: $32,735
Protection Package: $2,863
Jenkin's Appearance Package: $2,499
Adjusted Market Value: $8,000
TOTAL: $46,097

So much for the cheap small truck Ford is trying to sell.

I hope that truck rots on their lot for spite. Appearance package!? What the heck is that all about. Then tack on an additional 8k? They can keep it.

I had to bite my tongue while talking to the guy which was nice by the way.

He kept mentioning "they were going to sell a lot of Mavericks". I came so close to saying Not at that price, but I didn't. I thanked hime for letting me look at it and departed laughing.

Like you, I hope it rots there at that price.

Holy 🤬💩💩!! That's some serious BS there! I can't believe that they nearly added a third more to the MSRP!

Getting to the dealer and having to deal with this kind of thing is exactly what I'm dreading. It honestly makes me just want to go buy a car nobody gives a shit about.

It’s not a good time to buy a car. Seems all dealerships are charging mark-ups. I got my wife’s wrangler an oil change this am and the Jeep dealership is taking on $1k for née gladiators. Not too much I suppose but still, not good.

I am going to wait a few months and see if things settle down a little

There's a Maverick on eBay with a $10k mark up. Good luck to them.

It'll take a year or more. This reminds me of what happened during cash for clunkers when every dealer got wiped out of inventory.

That’s true! It took the used car market a while to recover from the Cash for Clunkers. I was talking to one of the sales weasels while I was waiting for the oil change to be done and he said Jeep was telling them 20 weeks for new orders.

that’s a long time!

Not trying to one up anyone, but my dealer is adding 10k to the Maverick and 30k to full-size Bronc. And people are buying them before they hit the lot lineup.

That’s on stock units not preorders.

I have never, and will never, want any car bad enough to pay over MSRP. I've only ever paid MSRP once and it felt gross.

I trust my dealership to honor the deal. If they don't, they can find someone else to buy it.

I purchased my Lariat from Nielsen Ford in Wantage NJ. Management told the sales people that they could not budge on the price at all because they were not marking them up. It was a good buying experience. I orderd a loaded Lariat . I became concerned about the head room , with the sun roof, and I felt it might be too small. So I bought a Badlands Bronco Sport instead. The truck came in and they called me. I ended up trading it in for the Maverick. The dealer gave me way more than I paid for it. it was pretty much an even trade . I just had to pay $113 in tax.
