I've gathered a great deal of information that makes sense via this site, E-Trailer, and general searching and am convinced the battery charge line is essential (dead battery twice while towing as evidence needing one). I've orderd the RM 156 25 and their diode RM 690 for installation early next week.
On another note though...why doesn't Ford make mention of this requirement in the owners manual while discussing the flat tow process?????
Yes, would appreciate your insight on wiring the battery charge line to the Maverick. Specially where to connect the positive charge wire to the truck; on the jump start pole or the point just to the left if it (under black cover with do not jump graphic).

I can try and send you a picture of the receptacle ( dioed) that the line coming off the 7 pin connects to. I'll also send a picture of the line. Unfortunately the RV is in storage and I can't illustrate the connections
Got everything figured out except how to connect the charging wire to the jump post under the hood. From what I've read, the jump post is the point of attachment. However, right next to the jump post is another 12 v source to the battery. ??

I connected my charge wire to the red jump point. While I know that the black bolt also says 12 volts, it also has a line through it meaning not to use it as a jump point, so I use the red one. Make a ring terminal and find a nut to thread on top of it. Easy as pie. I do not know why they don't want you to use the easier-to-access black terminal, but the red is easy enough for the one connection.

Finding the correct size nut is driving me nuts! Neither M8 1.25 or 5/16 18 fit. Still buying various sized nuts/threads and returning what doesn't fit. I am looking for specifics please.

Conclusion. Thanks everyone for the information provided. Your insights and ETrailer won the day. RM 156-25 "towed vehicle charge line kit" is now installed. Final challenge was the specific nut needed for the positive jump post. I eventually went with 5/16 18, which was very tight, but worked out.
Now for the final test, will tow the Maverick 400 miles tomorrow, following the owners manual process along the way. When I stop after 4 to 5 hours I'll perform the steps noted in the manual. If the charge line kit works, I won't have a dead battery, which previously prevented me from doing anything but using a jump box to power on.

Sorry, I have about a 60 year accummulation of random nuts, bolts, etc. in jars and dug around until I found a fit.

FYI. Edit to Add = looks like M8x1.25 or M8x1 (course/fine thread).

I just tried an M8 1.25mm thread and it does not fit on my 24 Mav charging post. I guess I'll try the M8 1.00

This RVI toad charge kit is what I use to connect the MH charge line to the toad. It has lights that indicate the circuit is or is not working. I’m confused with what you’re attempting to use?

I have the same charger, however, even after a long tow travel day within hours I get the Ford message that it’s disabling to conserve battery. I’m checking to ensure proper installation. Have you ever had that happen?

Yes, these details help. Now to identify exactly what pin from the 7 pin RV plut equates to the six pin on the Maverick receptical so that I can run the wire from that exact pin to the battery. Alos, I've read about dioeds and fuses/breakers on this specific wire feeding the Maverick battery. Any comments on this matter?
What baseplate did you purchase? I have the RoadMaster set up and my representative recommended adding the “charge line” to my order as others have stated this will resolve your issues…

What I have found is that these charge devices fail regularly. I had to give up on them after two of them failed. You can tell if its working or not with the lights. If your battery is being discharged which it sounds like it is. Then you are not charging the towed vehicle.

The cheap answer is a $15 bluetooth voltage monitor. Then you know your truck's battery voltage as you tow it and if the charge wire stops working for any reason, you 'll know it.
