I'm installing the charge line kit as well. My Maverick's Positive connection post under the red plastic cover does not have a nut. Anyone know what thread it is, so I can go buy a nut?
Not for sure, but on another thread someone noted that is was 5/16 with 18 thread. I am heading over to Lowes now to try getting one. I've ordered the RM 156 25 battery charge kit and the RM 690 dioed.

I have wired F-150s, Rangers, and my Maverick all for flat towing behind my motorhome. All of them do indeed require charging from the motorhome. I can't send you information right now, but if you're interested I can forward pretty much every thing you need later? Just advise.
I've gathered a great deal of information that makes sense via this site, E-Trailer, and general searching and am convinced the battery charge line is essential (dead battery twice while towing as evidence needing one). I've orderd the RM 156 25 and their diode RM 690 for installation early next week.
On another note though...why doesn't Ford make mention of this requirement in the owners manual while discussing the flat tow process?????

Maybe because Ford and their service dept don't do the modifications that you need. I'm taking mine to my RV shop when it gets here.

Because there is nothing in the Maverick left on (as built by Ford) to need a charge wire. You turn it OFF to tow it in Neutral Tow. The BRAKE or other systems you choose to add will be taking power while towing. Not only do I use a Battery maintainer for my BrakeBuddy (https://www.amazon.com/Hopkins-39332-BrakeBuddy-Vehicle-Maintainer/dp/B004RCXB8A), I also use a bluetooth battery monitor to make sure the Maverick battery is kept up above 12 volts, just in case.

Update. The 5/16 18 thread nut from Lows is too small, doesn't thread onto post/bolt.

Good call. Called a nearby dealership and evidentially it is an M8 nut. Unfortunately, they have none in stock. Calling around to see if other dealerships have one.
Ok, M8 nut. However, they come in various thread dimensions such as 1.0 and 1.25. Which one?

Ok on M8 nut. However, they come in various thread sizes such as 1.25, which is supposedly the nominal size. But there are 1.0, 0.8, and 1.5 sizes. What did the Ford guys specify?

Coming off your 7 pin on the RV into an installed receptacle on the Maverick, in the front bumper where the baseplate sits, wires coming off receptacle go to the battery. The RV is charging your battery when it's running. I have it on my Honda Fit right now, works great. I'll be having one installed in my Maverick when it arrives. The line from the 7 pin to the receptacle has to be made to attach on both ends. Hope this helps !
Got it. I'll make the connection via the roadmster RM 156 25 battery charge kit and RM 690 diode. Hot pin from RM 6 pin plug already installed on front of truck to battery jump pin under the hood.

Well I suppose Ford doesn’t believe they are responsible for advice concerning flat towing beyond telling owners it's possible. I guess I tend to agree with them, after all we have to take some responsibility for the operation and care of our vehicles. If it makes you feel any better, I did the same thing with my F-150. The difference was, I had added the charge line and just failed to make sure it was working. I had forgot to install the fuse in the circuit. I’m a slow learner, but I do catch on after a fashion. BTW, the other necessary item required for flat towing is the Maverick brake light circuit added to the dash of your motorhome. It is a must to monitor actual aux braking action on the Maverick. Other wise you stand a good chance of destroying the entire braking system in the Maverick just like others have on this forum.

This RVI toad charge kit is what I use to connect the MH charge line to the toad. It has lights that indicate the circuit is or is not working. I’m confused with what you’re attempting to use?

Roadmaster battery charging for towed vehicles to include diode per review of E trailer website information and other recommendations for such a system.

My motorhome has the "battery charge" wire in the factory 7 pin connector and it is live as delivered. No need to wire anything on that side. On the 6 pin round connector that you will have on front of the Maverick, typically the "battery charge" will be the center pin in the connector. But verify with a meter. You may, in certain brands of chassis, have to have the tow cable connected for the coach to show voltage to the maverick......
