Dead battery after flat towing, 2024 Maverick Hybrid.

After flat towing 5 hours behind RV there was no response when pushing the push button ignition switch (button). Dashboard totally dark. Applied 12 v. via jump start, Dashboard comes alive, and I can start the vehicle. Nowhere in the owners manual does it mention a need to provide any kind of battery charging system. What am I missing?

Coming off your 7 pin on the RV into an installed receptacle on the Maverick, in the front bumper where the baseplate sits, wires coming off receptacle go to the battery. The RV is charging your battery when it's running. I have it on my Honda Fit right now, works great. I'll be having one installed in my Maverick when it arrives. The line from the 7 pin to the receptacle has to be made to attach on both ends. Hope this helps !

Yes, these details help. Now to identify exactly what pin from the 7 pin RV plut equates to the six pin on the Maverick receptical so that I can run the wire from that exact pin to the battery. Alos, I've read about dioeds and fuses/breakers on this specific wire feeding the Maverick battery. Any comments on this matter?

I can try and send you a picture of the receptacle ( dioed) that the line coming off the 7 pin connects to. I'll also send a picture of the line. Unfortunately the RV is in storage and I can't illustrate the connections

I have wired F-150s, Rangers, and my Maverick all for flat towing behind my motorhome. All of them do indeed require charging from the motorhome. I can't send you information right now, but if you're interested I can forward pretty much every thing you need later? Just advise.

Charge line from RV to Maverick

I ordered a charge line kit from etrailer. Made by Roadmaster, I think about $35.00. It shows which pin to use on you 6 pin plug on your Maverick. Kit comes with wire, connectors and a relay with instructions. Simple install.

I'm installing the charge line kit as well. My Maverick's Positive connection post under the red plastic cover does not have a nut. Anyone know what thread it is, so I can go buy a nut?

Get specs of the threaded post from your Ford dealer parts department or one of online Ford parts sellers

Good call. Called a nearby dealership and evidentially it is an M8 nut. Unfortunately, they have none in stock. Calling around to see if other dealerships have one.

You do NOT have to buy a nut from Ford. Just go to any quality hardware store and they should be able to fix you up. And a lot cheaper.
